Comparing a Bolt to a Tesla has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

For what these EV bullshits are worth, you are way better off putting that money into a down payment into a second home.

That's how silly these prices are for these things. Also, they're guaranteed to go to shit within a matter of 5 years. There's no avoiding the batteries going to shit. This is the clear reason to NOT go to EV. It's very clear, very bottom line stuff.


You are a fool to go with an ev unless you just don't care about your wealth. If you really want to help the environment then _transport less_.

Guess you have not visited the Bay Area or SF as we have a very serious mess here. Companies left and leaving. Crime in Oakland/SF is off the chart. Look at the recent murders. Very sad and so predictible with Newsom and Bonta letting the thugs free to steal, loot, car jack, etc. Commercial RE is expected to hit 40% vacancy by years end and Coldwell Banker says The City is now at 34%. Dems opened the door wide for the Trumpster. Even Nancy and hubby are moving as I saw a RE for sale sign on their house in Pac Heights.

these chevy bolts sound terrible. 247 miles nominal fake govt range. except chevy says dont charge them past 80%. and then with cold this YT guy who owns one says expect about 150 miles range in a colder climate. which range gets even worse he says when you use climate control (heat/AC) heavily. Nice feature of EV's, guess the gubt again chose not to mention it. Then an article say expect 10-40% battery degradation in the 8 years it's under warranty (chevy warranty guidelines). So that mean within 8 years if it's cold it might be getting 100 miles range, or not even enough to maker it from my house to DFW which is kinda my litmus test. Yikes. Once it gets to 15 years old like my ice (a 2008) who even know what the range might be. But it seems likely the battery would be long gone at a $16,000 (!) replacement cost, although the article claims that should come down to "only" $6000+ in the coming years. Grain of salt on that one I'd say. Though too be fair if it ever does come to 6k thats similar to an ice engine replacement cost.

Meanwhile my 2008 ICE (that I bought in 2013 with ~30k miles for $8500, and is still worth 4k, so 4500 cost to drive ten years and counting) w 152k miles purrs like a champ with no major repairs. And gets about 20.5 mpg with a ~17 gallon tank, so upwards of 340 miles REAL range that isn't affected by the cold or climate controls (much anyway) and then once that range is up it takes 5 minutes to refuel. the real problem with ev's isn't the range, it's the brutal recharge time. which is minimum 45 minutes in the real world i think.

Seems to me that real estate continues to increase in value. Those who can't afford it move out of the state and attempt to bash the state on forums such as slickdeals, Lol.

Tesla nickels and dimes you. You have to pay for mobile charger, charger installation, non-refundable order fee, extra delivery fee, etc. It adds up. Chevy doesn't make you pay for any of that.

Ordered MYLR in 1/21 and finally got my VIN today. Anyone know if we can still modify the car (ie. add tow hitch) even after VIN was assigned?

I have not had any issues using Tesla supercharger network on long distance trips, especially the 240kw ones.

They are all over the place and super in and out. Which is why I dont recommend EVs other than Tesla to folks that do a lot of long distance driving.

One mistake a lot of people make is wait for their cars to charge to 100 or even 90%. They are not aware of the charge curve and wait for 30 mins + to wait for it to charge, if going over 80%.

Tesla charges incredibly quick to 60%. I was able to go from 18% to 60% in just over 10 minutes, which was less than the time to go over to the restroom and back. For 80% it takes about 25 mins. Its generally smarter to stop at 60% and go.

Another beauty about Tesla superchargers is their plug and play. I pull in, get out, pull plug out of charger and plug it in and done. No waiting and playing around with payment methods and failed chargers etc. They are incredibly reliable and fast.

My charging routine and setup:

1) Always plugged in at home to a level 2 charger when in garage. I plug it in as soon as i Pull in.
2) Automatic Precondition starts every night at midnight
3) Auto charging begins every morning at 12:15 AM
4) Automatically stop charging at 80%
5) IF long distance trip anticipated then charges to 100%
6) Leave home every time with 80% charge or 100% (if long distance)

I rarely ever have to charge at a supercharger for daily drives leaving at 80% (Teslas are incredibly efficient with power).

For long distance trips, Tesla shows all the chargers on the map before trip and I can follow its guidance or make my own stops as needed. Tesla superchargers are everywhere and always within 15 mins where I am and best part is that they all work when I get there. This lets me easily do quick charging to 60% as needed, with most trips one way, 2 at most.

For me it is a blessing never having to go to a gas station ever and always leaving my garage charged and ready to go.

What makes it even more satisfying is that Solar powers my Teslas.
