More EVS catch fire and explode numerous times quickly and for no apparent reason that gasoline cars.
You can't travel as far between refueling, The actual refueling process takes longer than filling, Upfront costs are sometimes a barrier, And charging can be a pain when you're road trippin',
But wait, there's more to this story, EVs run quietly and smoother than glory, No oil changes or engine maintenance, And they can accelerate faster than gas cars with no resistance,
So there you have it, pros and cons of EVs, It's up to you to decide what you please.
Hope all BOLT EV owners checked if their car was recalled... or just park it outdoors all the time to be safe as GM had recommended in past.
5. Range isn't really what they say. MY LR 330, expect atleast 20% less in normal conditions and more in really cold winter or really hot summer. I heard some say it could be as low as 210.
Europe has a similar problem where their testing method is designed for a false max range vs real world average conditions.
These price drops are also dropping used tesla prices, especially the higher end ones.

EVs catch fire much much less often than gasoline cars. Orders of magnitude less.

Per 100,000 cars the # of fires by type are:
Hybrid: 3474.5 (once again hybrids are the worst of both worlds)
Gas: 1,529.9
Electric: 25.1
GM began production of the EV Hummer in December 2021.
In Q1 2023 they sold... two. Total.
GM began production of the Lyriq in Q1 2022.
In Q1 2023 they sold...968 of them.
Ford began production of the Mach E in Q4 2020.
In Q1 2023 they sold... 5,407 of them.
In Q1 of this year Tesla sold over 422,000 EVs.
Because their production numbers seem hilariously tiny.
They keep issuing press releases with huge target #s, and then missing them year after year after year.
Interior quality is really bad compared with fellow 50k cars.
Reliability after warranty is questionable. You can only go to Tesla for service and they charged an outrageous labor rate compared with other service centers. Also it might take a while to get your parts.
The cost saving of electricity vs gasoline isn't as big if you already owned a hybrid car like prius. Charging on road trips is actually more expensive.
To give context, my old prius going from San Jose, CA to LA (about 800 miles total) costs about 2 tanks total which is about 80 dollars. If I used my model Y for the same road trip, it will cost me about 25 dollars each charging stop, and I need a total of 4 stops to make it back and forth, so 100 dollars.
The autopilot is a real life saver and worth it for me driving on a long freeway trip.
Another thing that changes my driving is with a regular gas car, I tend to drive a much longer stop like 3-4 hours. While with my tesla, I tend to stop at 2 hours mark and take a charging stop and rest.
As for maintenance, the prius is mostly oil change and occasional tune-up, but nothing outrageous. For the model Y, the biggest maintenance is the tires which cost a lot and need frequent replacement. So 40-50k in my prius vs 20-30k in my model till I need a new set of tires.
The tesla is more silent while driving as there is no ICE engine, you will hear every road noise and bump on the street. You will tend to pay attention to more rattling plastic.
The prius engine is much louder and you don't pay attention to the little rattling noise.
In short, buy a tesla if you want the most acceleration you can afford in 50k and want to save environment. Buy a normal reliable hybrid car like a prius if you want to save money driving.
