Ev has less moving parts so it should cost less than ICE. So no. EV should not cost more to get people to buy in. Current pricing and infrastructure wont see more EV on the roads anytime soon. In the next 50 years it might but not in the next 15. Only whom went to a real business school can make it happen, not Elon M or anyone who doesnt know how a business works.

Yep.

https://electrek.co/2022/01/12/go...-than-evs/

Per 100,000 vehicles sold:
• Hybrid vehicles had 3,475 vehicle fires
• Gasoline-powered vehicles had 1,530
• Electric vehicles had just 25

EV market evolves way faster than the ICE one. Basically using an early 2022 report that reflects late 2020 data is way outdated and obsolete.

Tesla nickels and dimes you. You have to pay for mobile charger, charger installation, non-refundable order fee, extra delivery fee, etc. It adds up. Chevy doesn't make you pay for any of that.

Being a Chevy is reason enough to pay extra for a Tesla.

So there's a few major problems with this.

One of them is that if you compare to them correctly, they are cheaper.

For example I got my Model 3 to replace a Lexus IS350 ICE vehicle. I did look at a newer IS350. It was more expensive than the Tesla. And slower. And didn't handle as well. And had less cargo room. And cost more to operate and maintain.

Unless you're one of those weird "Anything with 4 wheels and doors that goes from place to place is exactly the same as anything else" in which case go grab yourself a 10 year old Kia and call it a day my dude.

Beyond that though your analogy doesn't hold up even if that wasn't the case- It has entirely DIFFERENT parts, with entirely different costs.

OLEDs cost more than LED televisions, even though they have "less parts" (no backlight)-- because they use different (and better) technology. Just as EVs use DIFFERENT parts with different costs compared to ICE vehicles (and produce better results).

Again you appear to be expressing...the opposite of facts...

EV adoption rates are skyrocketing and will continue to do so (google "s-curve" if you're unfamiliar with how this sort of scaling/adoption of new tech works).

Q1 of this year, the Model Y was the best selling crossover/suv in the US

Not "best selling EV"-- best of ANY type.

The Model 3 was the 2nd best selling sedan, only a few hundred units behind #1 (Camry)

The Y is likely to be the best selling vehicle in the entire world this year (it was already best selling by revenue in 2022)

More generally-

Over the 2016-2021 period, EV sales in Europe increased by a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 61%, the world's highest, above China (58%) and the United States (32%).... and then 2022 was a record year for EVs in all 3.

Further, the EPA is about to release new rules in the US (which has been a laggard in adoption) that'll insure the majority of new cars by 2030 are BEVs.

They will ALREADY be the majority of all new car sales in Europe and China before then.

Europe is banning ICE new car sales entirely by 2035...as are some US states.

He's running what is, by far the highest profit margin vehicle maker in the world.

A company whose production of EVs has grown by an average of over 50% a year each year for a decade.... vastly outperforming all legacy auto that keeps tripping over its own junk and failing to scale EV production, and losing money on most EVs they do manage to slap together (when the wheels aren't falling off em like Toyotas lousy attempt at it)

There's plenty of perfectly valid thing to be critical of regarding him- but this ain't one of em.

So again your claims appear to be... not reality based.

wondering the same, given interest rates have been dropping when will tesla reduce their rates? or is there any credit union offering 60 months under 4.75%? or 48 months under 4%?

Wow just wow. There are so many holes in this response I'm not going to even bother. I'm no Elon fan and have been browsing constantly for something other than a model y to buy as I hate gf model 3 interior but man oh man this statement speaks volume of your intelligence, or lack thereof

Btw I'm no fan of the schmuck Elon but for someone who owns 4 companies worth over 1 billion each, he mustve done something right, with or without a business degree

Can't even imagine owning something tied to Elon Musk's legacy. What a farking clown of a human being. I'd rather drive a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier for the rest of my life and be sucking dick for coke.

They're providing park assist via vision now- and expected to continue improving it and adding features as they do with most things via OTA updates over time

https://insideevs.com/news/658921...-park-yet/

I read the article and they didn't really specify, but does that park assist require me paying for the full self-driving or auto pilot options? Was hoping to avoid paying for those.

Park assist is a paid feature that comes with Enhanced Autopilot. Doesn't come with the car by default.

I mean, Henry Ford was a rabid anti-semite, blaming jews for both world wars and violating the genevia convention using French POWs as slave labor to build stuff for the Nazis…He's the only American mentioned favorably in Mein Kampf and Hitler once said Ford was his "inspiration"…but plenty of people still bought (and buy) Fords.

Volkswagen was heavy in manufacturing for Nazis too-- but far more recently was still literally gassing humans to test the impact of vehicle emissions---and by recently I mean less than 10 years ago on top of rampant emissions cheating-- but people still buy VWs too.

I think "saying douchey conspiracy stuff on twitter" is probably a step down from literally inspiring Hitler, or building tanks for him and still gassing humans in recent history... but YMMV.

Lots of people and companies who moved the world forward were not always the best people all of the time. I'd be shocked if there weren't tons of things you own made by companies who did, or are run by people who did, things you'd hate... you just can't take the time to check them all.

Quick clarification

Autopark (ie you want the car to park for you) is a paid feature.

Park assist- The thing that just tells you the distance to walls and curbs when manually parking is free.
