Panasonic was tops 20+ years ago, from Japan I would say Zojurushi, from Korea it would be Cuckoo
Brand is well known for their quality rice cookers in Asia. Not sure of this model, but some models can get very expensive.

12 cups (cooked) rice capacity. How does it translate to the standard "uncooked" that all other rice cookers specify? I'm about to buy it but am worried about this model being too big (or small) for its intended use

Love my Cuckoo. I got a higher end one than this but zero complaints and way better than the cheap aroma one I had before.

I like how it tells us "cooks white rice in under 30 minutes", but tell us how long it takes to cook BROWN rice. I had a Zojirushi that I bought from Costco long time ago which takes 2 hours to cook brown rice. I don't need my rice perfect - rather prefer quick.

I once thought this way and had some high end zojurushi cookers, then realized any brand induction cooler is superior to any brand. The tech matters more than the brand. That being said, I got a tiger (japan) and it's been amazing and since the non stick coating is starting to have issues it's about time to get a new one but my suggestion to all is get induction or go home

Always wondered what the difference between a cheap rice cooker and expensive one is. I have a cheap Aroma and the rice seems fine to me. Maybe I don't know what I'm missing?

If you are on a budge, get the Chinese made Zojurushi. We have been using a made in China Z from Costco. It has served wonderfully for the last 10 years for white rice, brown rice, congee, sushi rice...
