Dollar tree ones appear to be rougher around the edges. While it probably won't make a difference in usage, these appear a little better quality.

I have an older 2 prong outlet in my room, is the only quick option to use a 2 prong to 3 prong adapter. Although supposedly they aren't the safest option

Don't plug in a microwave and a toaster. That is well exceeding an outlet but if you actually think about what you're plugging in, you should be ok.

I bought two from Home Depot last time. It is tiny with really small distance between two sockets, so actually you can only use 4 of 6 mostly. Plus, it has two 3-prong plugs on the back, taking all the space on outlet, so essentially you convert 2 sockets to 4 mostly :-)

Yes these are much more useful than six. There are also six plug adapters where the plugs on the sides are angled. They are more expensive though.

Thank you times a million. I've been posting such warnings myself of late on these deals so people don't plug in devices that exceed its capacity but not the room circuit's capacity, because it's within that "danger zone", typically between 15A and 20A, that these things fail and either melt, explode, catch fire or just stop working.

I don't understand why NEC still doesn't require either a circuit breaker or fuse on literally EVERY outlet extender, extension cord and power stripe sold in the US. Those stupid warning stickers are ignored by most people who think that they wouldn't be allowed to sell them if they're dangerous and it's just legal CYA (which they basically are, but still dangerous if misused which is so easy to do).

In the UK it's the law. Why not here?

You can plug in a microwave OR toaster OR space heater OR really anything with a 15A plug because by law they're limited to a 15A load, just not anything additional that draws any serious amount of power. This is assuming that this thing is actually able to handle 15A. Even if you put more than a 20A load on it the circuit breaker might not trip right away and they trip according to a curve based on load and time, but these things can't handle much more than 15A.

I have the one from dollar (and a quarter) tree and it IS easy to remove, so easy, my wife thought her hand mixer died because the outlet adapter had pulled away just enough to prevent it from working. I'd prefer the type that use a long screw that screws into the original outlet and holds it tight. I have no use to remove it so the screw in type would be OK for me.
