MuscleTech Nitro-Tech Whey Protein Isolate & Peptides | Protein + Creatine Vanilla, 10 lb

I hadn't looked for whey in over a year before recently. The prices have risen significantly. Was there some unreported dairy cow massacre? This is a great price compared to others I found. You can get the discount on Chocolate also, but the total will be a little higher as the base price is approximately $7 more.

There are reasons why it's so "cheap"

See how "concentrate" is listed before "isolate"? No other whey does that.

See how amino acids are thrown in as padding?

That's called "amino spiking" and it is to fake pass protein level tests.

Ingredients are nasty.

These are standard ingredients in a whey blend. A blend like this is better in terms of protein to calories than standard whey, but not as good as a pure isolate. There really isn't enough unbiased empirical data to provide a definitive answer as to which works best. One type might not even work best for all individuals depending upon workout routine, other dietary intake and personal genetic composition.

This is not accurate. A lot of whey blends list concentrate before iso.

Yes, by weight a 1/3 of this is not protein. But if you take creatine everyday, then some of the "filler" could be beneficial.

Just to clarify, amino spiking was a practice (most brands no longer do this) of dumping in *cheap* and less beneficial amino acids like glycine, taurine, glutamine etc. The amino blend in this stuff are actually known as branched chain amino acids, aka BCAA, which are much more useful for muscle protein synthesis. There's some debate as to whether these are any better than straight protein, but they certainly aren't worse and many people actually pay for them separately as a supplement. Many people prefer just whey with no additions or modifications, but this is not inherently inferior.

Bigger issue, as others noted, you're getting less protein per oz/g than a lot of others, making this not quite as good a deal as it seems.

Every other day there is a "deal" on this fairly low quality protein.

Probably quite recently, since he seems to give AF about his nutrition.

I'd ask about the last time you went bandwagoning but we all know the answer to that.

Consume what you want, but I've put this brand in the "hard-pass" list for the reasons others have mentioned. Don't feel bad if tho, I'm never buying Dymatize again either (absolutely nothing to do with it's Bioengineered Food Ingredient tho, it's mouthwateringly delicious).
