Same. I refuse to pay full price for a system that's almost 3 years old.

I was slightly dyslexic reading the price. I thought it was for $150 instead of $510. I was excited for a super slick deal…

All these companies got greedy during the supply chain shortage a couple years ago. Now they're dropping prices like crazy trying to sell off their hoarded stock. Such sweet redemption
Like Sony charging a ridiculous $550 for their VR headset (viewer) that requires the ps5 to use. Pure hubris and greed. Nobody bought it (only 270k sales vs 2mil estimated) now they'll have to sell at a deep discount to make up for the disastrous launch. All that free Covid stimulus money made people lose track of reality.

Interesting to see a price drop now.

I think they are overstocked and trying to sell off the old PS5 stock to make way for the slim model that's supposed to be coming out.

I bit so I could claim all the freebie games b4 they take them down in May. God of War made it worth it to me as well. I just felt like it was time to pull the trigger. I managed to get a Series X a couple if days after launch but a PS5 was like an anomaly for over a year that I never actually got to see except in youtube videos. Overall I am very happy with the hardware.
Ps plus extra seems to be the sweet spot and a decent contender.
Maybe not as good as gamepass but I redeemed alot if games that gave me both the ps4 and ps5 versions. Even paying 549 for the Ragnarok bundle is worth it in my opinion. My only complaint with Sony hardware is that they can't get past the external storage cap. 8tb is the absolute max and truly you get 7.35tb. The system should allow more external storage drives to be connected at the same time. The x and s allows the internal, an expansion card and 3 externals that can be 16tb each. For some of us that have large game collections that's alot of options. The games do look great in the ps5 though. Had to ditch the white for some dark black plates I got from Amazon.com. It's a large console but I dig the tower look of it.
Game on!!

No one got greedy. They were simply trying to keep up with the demand, when they has zero ability to meet it during covod. They never expected the demand to wither as fast as it did. That is why you saw all these sales on shoes and sneakers recently. They could not meet demand, so they pumped up production to try to cope. Look at the bike industry. People were saying shimano was crazy for not pumping up production due to the covid bike craze. Now, bike shops are struggling to offload inventory. If the spring season does not pick up for bikes, you will see a lot of bike shops close this winter. So, nothing was hoarded. If anything, we are still seeing supply chain issues on electronic parts.

So how does the blame fall on sony and MS for that? Scalpers are a whole other issue all together.
