This is a standard best price. Everyone wishes a new version would release especially with switch2 on the horizon (maybe) since it has the same board. But there still isn't much this thing can't do. Nobody is messing with 8k yet in meaningful ways which I don't know if this could do.

Can it do AV1 and WiFi 6?
Edit: looked it up, and the answer is unfortunately that 'no' it can't do either. I'll wait to see what Amazon, Google and Walmart release later in the year, because I don't need it right now and the price isn't special.

ive seen this posted before but what exactly does it do?
It has all the streaming apps and more audio/video capabilities than other streaming boxes. It's tech is older but beefier. It's great for plex. I use a couple to play video off my Unraid server, it's the only device I've gotten to pass through or play every video and audio format I have. I generally play full quality 4k with Dolby Atmos rips. It also does really good upscaling, much better than anything else I've used. Some people complain because it hasn't been upgraded in awhile, but in my case it works far better than anything else. If you only care about streaming apps it's probably overkill and not worth the price. It also can play android type games, and run android apps.
So like a apple tv, fire stick, roku box. But more processing power.

they really need to upgrade the chip on this, it started to getting slow when i side load android hd app with air mouse on it, i think its either due to the ram or processor
waiting since 2021 hoping nvidia would launch a new model with latest specs. they still selling it for 180$ after all this years, one item i have been following which has held on to its price very well.
Waiting for the next model, will buy at launch.

Apple TV 4K has a A15 Bionic chip in it, same as the iPhone 13 and some iPhone 14 models. So the Nvidia Shield definitely doesn't have more processing power. When it comes to Plex however, the Shield is probably still the better option, as last I checked, Plex isn't optimized for ATV. For ATV, Infuse is the way to go. I would say the latest ATV is the most powerful streaming box on the market right now.
