Looking for feedback vs regular deals on Creality, etc. I don't know a thing about 3d printing. Any advice? Is this a good starter unit?
Thanks in advance!
I started with the Sovol SV01 back in the middle of Covid as a "Covid hobby". I think it was one of those "you don't know what you don't know" things so I think I put up with stuff early on, such as the gantry not being level and one of the fans going out, but all the tinkering did teach me about how to maintain a printer and keep it running, how to swap out parts, etc.
All that said, I actually do think the Sovol is a good bang for your buck. You get a lot of value. If I'm not mistaken, I THINK Sovol is either owned by Creality, or they have Creality do a lot of the manufacturing. Anyway, the SV01 had a heated bed and you could add a leveling probe for like $35 that makes the leveling way easier. I just ordered the SV06 Plus to upgrade the speed and the touch screen. The SV06 I think its a nice sweet spot. It's a smaller machine, but comes with a leveling probe and can get pretty hot (300 C) so you print stuff in ABS or Nylon. They're direct drive extruders so you can print flexible filaments as well.
3d printing is a tinkering hobby, especially with these Ender style printers. You really get to know your machine and how it works, how to troubleshoot issues and fix it. So just prep yourself for that, whatever you end up getting.

Yhx for the details. Are supplier (filament?) Compatible with "better" printers?

I would argue that the geometry of the SV06 is superior to the Ender 3 series. The linear rods are better then v-channel based motion. The SV06 is a clone of Prusa MK3 but with injection molded parts. Aurora tech channel did a great review on this ( https://youtu.be/Iq6-nlaXnVA). The only upgrade needed is a filament run out sensor but those are cheap. I recommended this to a friend who purchased it and they have been very happy. This is a great starter printer which is compatible with Prusa MK3
How are you getting the SV06 down to $231.86? I'm applying the WELCOMEBACK code and it's coming out to $251.23.
SV06, and SV01 Pro are no longer hitting the prices shown in the post.
The WELCOMEBACK coupon only discounts the printers $7-10, so I'd guess that the SV01 Pro, and SV06 were already discounted when the deal was first posted.
I'd guess the SV06 was $239(A price it's been at before) at the time of posting + the coupon would have made the $231.86 price believable.
Sovol has been bouncing the price up and down on their website, and also on Amazon recently. A few weeks ago it felt like $299 was the going price for the SV06, and they've dropped back to $259 with all the 3D printer sales recently.
I got the SV06 + Filament dryer on an Amazon Lightning deal for $295.09(printer was $254.15, dryer was $40.94) last week - which is less for the combo than this current coupon.
