For a gaming laptop, what do the PCMR folks think: this or the Samsung 990 Pro for $144?

Does anyone know whether or not the firmware can be updated? I wouldn't have thought to ask this before, but I just picked up a pair of inland SSDs from Microcenter yesterday and while looking for an update, I found out that not only are there no updates available, they actually have zero support. The price was great (2TB for $99), but I'm not comfortable with not having firmware updates (especially when they're not even consistent with what they're shipping, according to posts I've seen).

I'm in the same boat for my prebuilt, I'm thinking of buying a pci adapter card to install M2 drive in. 2.5" SSD just don't come close to the m2 speeds.
