I am sure you never used Apple TV before commenting this.
PS: I use Google TV myself.

OP, you should include "Apple TV 4K 128GB (3rd generation) - Wi-Fi + Ethernet" in the title to make the post more useful.

Anyone here completely out of the apple ecosystem other than the streaming player? I really really don't like my Roku 4k stick, but it's way better than my aging Samsung 4k TV smart functions which are buggy and laggy these days.

Curious if anyone basically doesn't use apple other than this can comment on the experience
Apple TV is the only thing I have in the apple ecosystem, always been very pro open systems/Android etc, but I love the Apple TV, more than my Roku, Google TV and FireStick.

It just works...and have had the first gen Apple TV HD and they still update it over 6 years later (I think it is 6).

I'm not sure I'm following these comments on fewer Ads on Apple TV. I have a Roku Ultra (actually all Roku devices in my house) and all ads are app specific. The Roku app has ads, Pluto has ads, and some apps like Paramount/Hulu, etc you can purchase a no ad experience. Are you just saying that Apple TV the app has fewer ads vs. the Roku app? The box has nothing to do with that … does buying this box/device give you Apple TV streaming content for free?

Any Nvidia Shield users care to comment on your (if any) experience on going from a shield to an Apple TV?. Navigating the UI on my shield feels slower these days which isn't surprising considering how old the Tegra chip inside is. Without a new shield on the horizon this seems to be the best option. I am a big fan of the Shield and this device is in the software support hall of fame. Still getting updates after all these years. Hope everyone is doing well✌️

What thread support can be used for ?
Thread is a radio that connects your IoT devices. Think smart home. Its basically a standard that's suppose to make it easy for different IoT devices to communicate regardless of manufacturer. Still relatively new and it remains to be seen if manufacturers will be fully supporting it. It's definitely a nice addition and nice to have for future projects.

Im in no way a fan of Apple, I dumped GTV for ATV when they downgraded to OS12 and broke Kodi. Now I use AppleTV with Infuse 1,000 times better!

I use google tv as that is what google fiber gave us when they got rid of tv service and Apple TV. I will say, if you have kids, have AirPods, and already in the Apple eco system, Apple TV hands down. Google tv, very close second but I find it very click heavy navigating. No one can say Amazon fire anything is in any kind of running. I replaced those with the google tv and didn't realize how laggy and slow those are while navigating until I used something else.

Th Shield was a very good device 3 or 4 years ago. Now it's a bit dated. NVIDIA needs to release a new model.
yup fire tv cube beats the shield pro in CPU performance now

Doesn't Apple TV still have limitations when it comes to proper HDR and lossless audio? I think you still have no choice but to go the Nvidia route in those home theater situations
