It's not that items for HomeKit don't exist. It's that I have to go out of my way to find items specifically made for HomeKit, as opposed to Google Assistant and Alexa pretty much being compatible/enabled by default on any kind of smart device.

And of course for basic things Siri can do the same stuff, but she constantly misunderstands me and does things I didn't ask for. Not to mention she won't play from YouTube or really anything besides Apple Music, and for general questions, Google Assistant is significantly smarter and gives way better answers. Any one who actually uses Siri should be very familiar with her replying to 90% of your questions with "here's what I found on the web"
I have not had a problem with mine, it responds way better than my Alexa does and it doesn't constantly go offline and flash notifications that I need to repurchase items even though I have turned off notifications.

As for homekit stuff, you can get a hoobs box and use pretty much anything you want to without issue. I have tons of stuff setup in my Home app and it works perfectly. I didn't have a great user experience with managing Alexa plus didn't they announce last year that they were cutting back on that team?
You should consider looking into Homebridge. Through Homebridge, you can use non HomeKit devices on HomeKit. Pretty cool stuff- you tube has many instructional videos.

I want to like this, but Siri is just terrible, and HomeKit enabled items seem rare, and the items that are available are much more expensive than Google Assistant/Alexa devices.

I'm a huge Apple user and after hearing you guys say this I'm glad we use Alexa. It works well with Apple and while not perfect it really does work with a lot of smart devices

Just curious what are you asking Siri to do that Siri just can't do? And what items are you looking for that aren't homekit enabled? I feel like these arguments are so overspoken.

I use Siri mostly for turning off lights and have a million alarms set to remind of where my kids need to be at all hours of every day. We also play music from pandora. None of this ever gives us issues. I guess it works for us. I never used Alexa or google, so I don't really have anything to compare it to.

Didn't expect these responses. I came in here fully expecting to replace every Alexa with one of these. I'm pretty sure the next time Alexa answers my question and then asks me a question (regardless of how many settings I have disabled) she just may get thrown against a wall.

Voice is a little childish but the sync between the HomePod and AppleTV4k is spot on

That's what I use them for.

Siri is pretty awful. But these work fine as a speakerphone for an iphone, or as a podcast or music player, or for basic questions. I also use mine to control various devices via homeassistant but that's probably more advanced than most people will go with them. They are NOT compelling in any way on their own, but (for the price) they are handy if you're already in the iphone / apple ecosystem.

I am thinking about getting a couple of them for the same reason.

After what Google did to Nest Secure last week, I will never buy another Google product again
