My specific use case - Im not planning to mount this on ceiling or install a screen (planning to use a wall instead) in a 15*15 light controlled media room

You do pay for quality by and large in the projector world IMHO (vs TVs, where many times you're paying for name recognition as much as quality, since the panels aren't often made by the TV OEM), but mostly that comes down to use case - do you want a perfect, crisp image with deep blacks for HT? Do you want a quick refresh rate for gaming? Do you want something unobtrusive that doesn't require running wires or ceiling mounting? - many of the ultra short throws can do that, which opens up projectors for a lot more folks.
The best part is for the most part you aren't paying for screen 'size' (like with traditional tvs) on the projector end - if you want to project a 200" diagonal, most of the PJs on the market today will do it with decent brightness as long as your room doesn't have massive windows.
Screens and screen materials (or walls) is a whole other thing, i'd suggest you research around and figure out what you want. That often comes down to compromising between image quality and whether you want the room to be dedicated (and have a screen or brilliantly white rectangle on the wall).
