I already have a 12 month membership. Going through these steps did not extend it. It just changed which card will be charged when its set to renew, for the full amount.

I tried this same type of offer last year on my Chase freedom flex cc and it charged me $5 every month and gave me $5 discount on 1 order every month. Which comes down to free if you place 1 order per month above $5.

does it still work that way now? I think we still have the original freedom card, should we change to the flex?Is that generally better?

It depends on what Chase card you have. I've had this deal since Chase started offering it desperate to keep travel card customers during the pandemic. Only Sapphire and similar cards get 12mo. This is their second year offering this and hopefully they end next year because I've spent wayyy too much $$$ on food delivery.
