The reviews on their site are hilarious. 80% of them are from people who received them for free in exchange for the review, and it's pretty clear that they have no idea what it even is. But they still try to say how great it is by regurgitating whatever they glean from the title and description. It's like book reports from kids who clearly didn't read the book.
My personal favorites (they work especially well if you read them in choppy nervous kid BSing a book report voice): "I love how the Z-Wave Plus Direct Wire Indoor/Outdoor Lighting Appliance Control Smart Switch simplifies my life. You can really have the smart home of your dreams with this device! Very simple to use and operate. I would definitely recommend this to all my family and friends who love technology"
"This review is for the GE Z-Wave Plus Direct Wire Indoor/Outdoor Lighting Appliance Control Smart Switch. I received this last week and installed it in my house. It is very easy to use and is great for controlling the lighting in your home. I would recommend this product"
I always count on in DestinyB85 and LauraC for my Smart Home reviews, so I'm glad Jasco reached out to them to get feedback
Personally, I would stay away from Jasco unless they've had an increase in quality.
I've had about a 50% failure rate of their Z-Wave GE branded switches but maybe I've just gotten a bad batch of switches. Seems like the relay had failed in all of mine within a year.
Conversely, Lutron Caseta has had no failures and have about 20 installed for several years but don't believe they offer a switch that can handle this high amperage or voltage combination.
Read the post you quoted again...you're not wrong but neither are they

Standard Zwave switch won't handle heavy loads, such as a pool pump.
This switch is more than capable of handling your average pool pump.
Most pool pumps run less than 10 amps at 220v, and less than 16 amps at 110v. This switch is rated at 40 amps which is a standard rating for higher end pool panels controlling multiple devices associated with the pool like motors, lights, gas fired heaters, spa blowers etc.

From the pictures it looks like it's build better than the Aeotec heavy load switch. Metal box plus antenna. Aeotec is plastic box and doesn't take any of the standard US fittings. I placed my Aeotec inside of another outdoor rated box which takes weather proof connections.
The only reason I went with Aeotec for my heavy load switch was because it was cheaper and at the time Jasco was still being a bad company by not sharing firmware updates.
I have my Aeotec controlling my well pump so I can remote turn it off when out of the home and more importantly energy monitoring. If I had funds to spare I'd consider getting this one for my pool pump just for the energy monitoring capabilities.

I have a bunch of Jasco switches that were installed by previous home owner and probably 3 out of 7 have failed over the past year. The switches are 4-5 years old I think and house was empty for quite a while so they were unused.

Seems like overkill for most setups. Why not just use a zwave on/off switch ?
This IS a zwave on/off switch. It's a 240V one (well, 277V). It's also in a rated outdoor protection box. I have the Aeotech 240V heavy duty switch on my drier, but there's no way I'd put that outside in the rain and snow as it came out of the box - there's no way that would pass an electrical inspection.

I'm curious -- how are you controlling your dryer with this?

I installed two of these, for my pool pump and salt generator. Overall works well, have continued to use for about 3 years. Survives heavy rain/storms. Keep in mind, you will likely need a zwave extender plugged in to the closest wall of the house. I kept have connectivity issues without it, caused a lot of frustration (would work intermittently).
