I have the q990b. Its underwhelming, coming from a much cheaper wired 7.1 Onkyo. Im almost tempted to return it if not for the clean look of being wireless.

Hmm, that's my (similar) setup today: onkyo receiver with a dedicated 5 speaker klipsch speaker set and a sony 10" sub. Looking at the Q990B/C sets to clean up the wires. The rub for me is I want atmos, but my audio is in a 2-story room so guessing the sound bouncing off the ceiling will be less than optimal.

My onkyo is dying so need to replace it with something. Decisions...

I bought the 990b a couple of months ago and it's amazing but I only recommend it for large spaces. It's way too much for small spaces. Also Dolby Atmos lags on game mode for some weird reason but otherwise works perfectly. Highly recommend.

Got this a few days ago. Great soundbar. Can't really tell a difference from last year's Q990B, which I also found to be excellent.
If you own both did you A/B test going back and forth between them? That's the most reliable way to hear differences.

Crazy how fast this dropped in price. But I'd still wait considering the q990B was down to like $500
I think it might have been $600 as an add-on when you bought a TV from Samsung. Never heard of it being $500 to just buy it standalone.

One.... the speakers are tiny.
Second ...It doesn't....(give proper surround sound ) 11.1.4 Yeah right !
A sound bar can at best do stereo IF it is long enough.

*To each their own but for 1200 clams a A/V tuner and a set of speakers can be had that would blow this out of the water.
I do soundbar systems for my bedrooms. Sure, I can do a pretty nice 5.1 setup in a bedroom for this same price, but do I really wanna deal with finding space and positions for all that, plus wiring? A soundbar system like this Q990C is perfect for my larger space master bedroom, even better the Q800B paired with 9500S rear speakers for that 7.1.4 setup in smaller bedrooms. Soundbar systems like this really save a lot of space, and cost much less than other wireless setups like Sonos. Q990B has gone as low as 800, and someone claiming 500. At those prices for a virtual 11.1.4 wireless it's a no brainer for me. For a theater/family/living/game room, I'd opt for a real home theater setup though likely a true 7.2.4 or 9.2.4 if large enough, but that's also $$$.

How does a single soundbar fit so many speakers in it? And how could it give proper surround sound when all the speakers are so close together?
Don't forget it has two satellite speakers that have 4x of the speakers from the 11. and 2x of the speakers from the .4, Each satellite has one front facing, one side firing and one top firing (atmos speaker) So really there are only 7 speakers in the soundbar itself and 2x top firing atmos speakers. I'm not going to lie to you. Especially in games it does a really good job of making sound come from different angles and sides. When it's on sale I think it's well worth the money not having to deal with wiring up a system though the walls etc.

Plus with Q-Symphony you get to utilize the TV speakers into the system.

*only if you have a 2022 or newer Samsung TV that has Q-Symphony. That would be a much more enticing feature if it was compatible on more TV's

I believe that bigger driver/speaker the better. Unless you have a small room like a bedroom.
