The lids for these will last 3 months, if you're lucky.
Agreed. Paper thin and they rip with minimal use.
Sigh, this is correct. Just looked it up:

Why do you say that? The box says Pyrex™.

Glass doesn't shatter because of high temperature (it'll melt, if high enough). It shatters because of quick large temperature changes. Never place an oven-hot glass vessel on a cold surface.

If your label is lowercase it is a different company that uses soda lime instead of borosilicate. If used above 425 or directly on heating elements it will shatter. Look it up

It really depends on what you use it for. I have other Pyrex (the cheap stuff) and the snapping lids are fine. These are just think cheap bundle lids that don't seal. Personally I don't cook in them, the most I do is reheat in the microwave and I've never had an issue.

I have been using glass containers for over 15 years and I'll stick to buying square or rectangle shaped containers and avoid circular shaped containers. They just don't stack as nicely in the fridge or in the cupboard. And yes, avoid Pyrex at all costs. The lids are super thin and tear easily over time due to wear and tear. Buy the Members mark branded glass container set from Sam's Club for $25 instead. It frequently goes on sale for $30.

Putting these lids in the dishwasher makes them brittle faster. I have had them split after less than a year and started handwashing a few of the same and they've now not split in several years. Maybe I got a good batch vs bad batch, but that's what worked for me.

It's cheaper to find the container on sale than buy the replacement lid :|.

According to wikipedia, "pyrex" is used in the US. Both materials can be used in "pyrex" products "PYREX" is used in Europe, Africa, and Middle East. You can visit pyrex website to confirm that wikipedia information is correct. So he gave wrong information.

On pyrex website, you can choose your region. In North America website, "pyrex" is used. In EU website, PYREX is used. On Kohl's website, it says microwave safe. They are for storage, not for baking. No one will use these for baking.
