Pretty good deal considering the battery and charger. I think at one point pre-inflation they were going for down close to $110 on eBay brand new, tool only. After using one of these for several years to do tire changes on my cars and suv, I got the heavier duty version to deal with my Ford Transit van at 150 lb torque. The stronger wrench is heavier and definitely takes off stubborn bolts with ease but this wrench will handle virtually anyone's normal tire needs. One of the nice things besides weight is it free wheels after you let off the trigger. The heavier duty version requires you to stay on the trigger to keep it going as it has a brake.
Good deal, but I've been eyeing the compact one with more torque… maybe soon
Yes, newer ones are much smaller and have more torque. I have had this one for ages and has served me well but damn it's large. Also, this doesn't take newer, larger capacity batteries. I do like the rocker style switch though.

Unless I'm mistaken, Makita hasn't made an LXT battery more than 6ah. I use mine with 5ah no issue.
I have both this and one of the smaller brushless ones. Sure, if you're walking around with it, or working overhead, go with the smaller one. If you're driving things at waist level, or changing tires, this one is much smoother. All that mass helps keep the counterforce from smacking your wrists.
