I really wish people would stop calling these generators. They aren't in anyway a "generator". They don't generate power. They store it for later use.

Calling them Power Stations makes the most sense for me.

I'd recommend cycling these under a load multiple times for the first few months. I've had 2 that would suddenly go from around 40-60% remaining capacity to zero. Both cases were after I had used them for a couple of months. The 2nd was the replacement sent for the 1st unit. Ecoflow has been very responsive in both cases, but it doesn't inspire confidence.

Figure on around 80% efficiency on ac, so you're only going to get about 400wh max on ac. Fan can be a little annoying at times, as it will cycle on and off, even for loads of only 45w. Overall, it's a nice unit, but I prefer to use the "milk crate" units I've built myself, for continuous use.

One last comment I'd make is to make sure to update the firmware when received. All of mine arrived needing an update. Be sure to check the version it updates to. My last 2 updated to a version like "1.00.1" on first attempt. On the 2nd try they both updated to the most current version.

Use code EASTER5 instead of NEW10 for $19 off.
Overall, pretty good price considering Ecoflow is selling refurbished ones on eBay for $349.

By your definition, a gasoline "generator" is not a "generator" either; it converts stored energy in the form of gasoline to electrical energy for later use.

That's comparable in about zero ways.

15% off refurb from Ecoflow on eBay with code THINKGREEN. $313. Not sure if worth extra $50 for new vs refurb.

Grabbed one of these at the last ebay sale. Nice little unit.

Has anyone found a good little carrying case for them? Would be nice to have one spot for it and all the cords.

I'm not taking sides just pointing out that a energy generator defies the "Law of Conservation of energy". In that energy can not be created or destroyed but rather converted from one source to another. So maybe we settle on a middle ground and call them all Energy Conversion Devices? Or ECDs? /s.

PS I don't care what they are called this seems like a good deal for a ECD!

But it won't. A gas generator you put in gas and get out electricity. With these you put in electricity and you take out electricity, very different. Gas generators convert gas to electricity, you can word it as its generating electricity from gas. This is a power bank that's only storing electricity
