Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

I grabbed a new one of these off amazon to try out since the power company was cutting our power off for a day to fix poles in the neighborhood.

Gotta say, it's not bad. For laughs I tried plugging my mom's m1 mac mini and 34" LG monitor into it, and it said with a 75w load it'd last about 2 hours at 100% charge. I ended up running a lamp and some speakers off it (averaging like 25-35w?) and it lasted about 8 hours with 10% left to go. It did the job!

It does indeed charge pretty fast, I think about an hour from 0-100%? The fan is indeed fairly loud, because it has this low growl to it. Build quality is nice and it's surprisingly light.

I tried charging my macbook pro off it, and it did drain the battery really fast. It was pulling down about 75w on its own though, so I can see how that would happen lol.

Before today I really didn't think it was worth the money but I'm a fan of it now. Too bad it's not powerful enough to do anything useful like run a furnace or a full computer for more than a short outage, and if you have a short outage why the hell would you spend $150+?

Grabbed the River 2 Max for $313+tax. Figure it'll be good to keep around for a router and charging should I need it, and small enough to toss in the car. Though I guess 2 of these would be slightly cheaper and same capacity, but I think features and capabilities of the max give some more options for devices.

Side note: Did you charge your macbook directly from the USB-C or using the AC outlet? you should get more life out of it using USB-C directly since it's DC->DC, which is more efficient than DC->AC->DC. It looks like 60W is max for USB-C but that should be enough to keep it topped off.

I run a 12V DC fridge with mine and get way more life out of it plugging directly into DC rather than using the AC power adapter.

I own the larger EcoFlow Delta and have been happy with their products.

Does this have a UPS mode where power can instantly transfer to battery when the mains are out?

OK, it looks like it has a 30ms switchover delay. On the site it's written as EPS.

For computers, it should be around 0 to 12ms on a good UPS.

Link? Can't find the deal.

edit: didn't apply the coupon, now I got $313. I got a 200w solar panel from a co-worker so I figure this would be a good first station. looks like you get a 5year warranty as well.

Yep! I used the USB-C to USB-C cable and plugged it straight into the usb-c port on the ecoflow unit.

I bought it for $185 with solar cable as new from the previous Amazon deal. This is a good deal too if you don't need the cable.

I'm thinking about getting the river 2 max. However I can't seem to find any info about using pass through with a fridge so that it kicks in if the power goes out. Can I use this as a pass through for my newish LG fridge? Will a sudden power outage shut off the fridge before the power station kicks in (meaning the compressor requires the additional watts for the initial startup) or will the power transition be seamless and will just maintain the low wattage required to maintain the fridge? Also will it be noisy if it's just using pass through? I'm assuming no? TIA

Yes it it will work well with your fridge but to get all your questions answered watch "Hobotech" on YouTube. He will get you all the details on these So-Gen's.
