Can't you get those from online sites for relatively cheap price?

What would you like to do with a NUC that you cannot do with this processor?

10,000 passmark vs. the best i7-13th gen (full desktop, not mobile - heater for your house) at 40,000 to 50,000. Yeah, 1/5 the speed, that's true. And it's also 1/20th the space, at a lower cost, and in a tiny form factor with all stuff included for a full working system.

For an ESXi box, it's hard to get more "standard" than this in the whitebox space. Yes, it's not directly supported by VMware, but the hacker community basically lives on the Intel NUC platform, and this is the last one (the later generations use Intel 12th gen and 13th gen hardware, which gets pink screen of death issues when booted in ESXi without some workarounds) to be "easy" to deploy.

For someone that wants a set and forget ESXi box, this isn't half bad. The RAM isn't nearly sufficient (so you'd toss it and put 64GB in there once you got serious with ESXi), but aside from that, it's ready to go.

ESXi support is crucial for anything long running in household, router, home automation etc. hard pass. Still looking for a powerful cpu with low waltage and ESXi friendly so you can backup and roll back easily in case of upgrade/patching. Must say NUC is very stable, currently NUC i5 4th/5th gen maybe still rocking pfsense with gigabyte fairly well. Never have to reboot in months.
