I have been looking into Hard drives for past few days, seen several of the Seagate Hard drive from same reseller, and people were commenting that it might be just too bad and Seagate having higher rates of failing. I looked and found this,not too much far off the price. Wondering if this would be a good deal? I noticed it's not RED but can be used as server drive in computer and/or thrown in NAS.

are these drives with major usage from the server farm that have had their firmware wiped/altered to show low to avg usage and no errors. Popcorn

Possibly but it does come with 2 year warranty, so was comparing this with the $125 for X18 Seagate Recert. So just wondering. I am a novice so I apologise for ignorance in advance.

I can't seem to find the one I was looking at but this is X18 but 12TB exos for !15.

Got four of their 18Tb recently. All 4 passed extended smart tests and are performing perfectly.

I order 2x20tb & 16tb drive, one of the 20tb was bad - they handled it GREAT, return label, no problems - no issues. great customer service

Coincidentally, I had one of these seem to break its own SATA connector today. It was running for months normally, then stopped being recognized by the computer. I am guessing the vibrations from it, and other HDs, weakened it over months, somehow. That bummed me out and I haven't been able to fix it, yet.

So, be gentle with the connectors on these, I guess.

Otherwise, I have a few of these units and they are still running strong.

Iirc the main concern is being able to do the extended diagnostics needed to do rma if the drive goes bad. Some cant be done outside a pc..
