That $80 fosi can get within 3db of this amp in its purity mode, which cancels out all its other functions, so, idk, we're entering the golden era of Chi-Fi.
You guys might not remember but we used to $hit on all the japanese amps/ brands before they overwhelmed american/ british products both in quality and price.

The point though is, you'll never hit anywhere close to that number with real content. For home use, you're already at deafening at 10 watts.
I've measured the loudest possible transients in real musical content, such as cannon sounds, guess what, they don't produce a single bump in electricity use on the meter.
Out side of transients, Sustained bass in electronic music uses the most power, but this hardly matters because you'll have to send it to a dedicated Sub anyway as non-exotic towers will cut it out.
So in every realistic way, THIS amp, will be used, it does not provide anything special over the $80 fosi. except the 3-4db of sinad in purity mode.
But there are other amps that do even more sinad-peen for the same price if that's what you're after.
For example, the new Topping Discrete LA 90

why are we talking about cheap chip amps? is this Reddit?
You're like the Casio guy in a Omega thread telling folks to buy a more practical watch.

I'm a different, "that guy". we are NOT the same.

I stream from my phone via chromecast audio so that feature of the a-s801 was irrelevant. Specs list a better DAC for the 801, but it's only used for the USB channel. All other inputs use the same DAC as the 701.
I keep mine in a closed door entertainment center and after several house of music it's barely warm. Sounds great with my Polk 705's and 2x SVS sb1000s. Bass-heads should know the sub-out is locked at 120hz.
