Sign ups are live. In the wallet app, select your Apple Card, go to the top right menu and hit Apple Cash, and change redemption to savings. Enter your social and you're done.

The account is backed by Goldman Sachs - a bank.

In case you don't see the Savings setup option, I didn't either until I just manually updated to iOS 16.4.1. Even with auto-updates on, my phone hadn't picked that up yet. Afterwards it was there immediately.

Marcus by Goldman Sachs doesn't even give us 4% interest and they're able to give 4.2% through Apple? Don't understand that...

Rate is too low. 13 week T-Bill is 5.2% and no local tax.
Yeah, sweet inversion. One stop shopping, no risk and the best rate available.

If you don't get approved for an apple card you cannot get the savings account? Why not?
Having the savings account incentivizes the use of the credit card. They want you to use the card.

I only use Apple Card for day to day expenses, and then immediately pay the balance as soon as it posts. I don't carry a balance.

Yep, we paid to bail Goldman out and quickly allowed them to change from an "investment" house to a Federally insured "Bank" after Lehman fell. Otherwise they'd also have been toast.
Worth noting Goldman paid back the $10 billion they received during the financial meltdown of 2008-09.

I am not going for fall for this switch and bait. Robinhood started like this. Offered 4% and a promise not to change their interest rate. Then later made some excuses about how the government didn't allow them to offer a high interest rate and moved it to 1%

This sounds rude. I mean no offense But if you can't get approved for an Apple Card. How could you have enough left over to save? I say this as someone that lives paycheck to paycheck. I have a good fico. But nothing left to save.

Don't understand why folks complaining about having to have Apple card for this high yield savings account? The same people complaining about why the airpod works so well with iphone sbut not with the pixel phones. Apple has been building a wall around its own economy system for some time now....why is this one a surprise?

UFB Direct offers 5.02% interest on their savings account, and they seem to increase it every couple/few months to keep up with current rates.
Dropped it recently
