I've had one since 01/2017. I purchased the GPS module about a month after. The GPS module died about a year or two later. The camera flaked out once or twice requiring a reset/flash. But no other issues in the last few years.

This is the best camera under $100: https://www.vortexradar.com/best-dashcams/

Pros
Great video quality
Records at Quad HD+
Great low light sensitivity
LCD display on the rear
Buffered parking mode recording
Capacitor for extreme temperatures
Compact and stealthy form-factor
Supports up to 256gb cards

Cons
No WiFi
No rear camera
No cloud support
No low-power parked recording option
No spoken event notifications
That site only reviews generic dash cams. Any sites that compare to Garmin mini 2? I know the Garmin is only 1080p but has park mode and better software. Thanks in advance.

Don't see this being that much of an improvement over a $24 Aukey DR02
Maybe try opening your eyes? Far superior video quality that you can actually read off plates and signs with this camera. Can't read shit with DR2

In 4 1 as a spare. I've had one of my A119's fail after about 4 years of service (maybe 6). Not the supercaps, instead it was the circuitry to the microsd card. Without the card installed it would boot up fine. With any card installed, it was get laggy, not record, lock up.

I run a Aukey DR02 in the front, A119 in the back. FWIW, you can still get Aukey DR02 from Walmart online.

I have this one with the back camera, bought a second one for another car, bought a viofo t110. I live in Vegas where it gets 116 on a daily in the summer but also dips below freezing in the winter. Have no issues

Is the seller legitimate (BlackboxMyCar)? It's not being sold by the manufacturer directly.
BlackBoxMyCar is s Canadian company that ships from Blaine WA. Completely legit.

If you order from Viofo directly, it may be shipped from Asia.

Aukeys always fail at about 2 years when the soldered memory battery fails. I've been through 2, and that one is dying. Since they got booted from Amazon, customer support is Zero.

Would love to, link to video showing visible plates with this cam? Because the ones I see show same blur at night as the DR02. Daytime seems fine with both cams.

Always? I've had the same two for over four years now with no issues.

I was early adopter of dashcam. Owned a few 1080P dashcam and moved on to A119 and now I have A129 Pro.

Here are a few things I would want if I were on the market.

1. In most accidents, if someone hit you from behind, it's their fault. so At least one channel is required. ALL parking mode dashcams require hard wiring. you would need to wire your car at fuse box. and connect the ground cable to body, one power wire to ACC ( accessory. only power on while the car is on) another cable to constant power. Wiring this is not a rocket science, but the wire tap has + side and - side. so it can be confusing. If you want the parking mode and going to hardwire a dashcam, I would just get 2 ch dashcam for all your trouble.

2. Night mode sensor performance varies. Sony sensors are apparently the best. Even with my 4k dashcam, the license place is hard to read. I think what is important is you can record the general shape. Did the car cut your lane with no blinker? this the car in front of you back in to your car? did they ran the red light? which can be done with any dashcam ( any cam is better than no cam). but I would want at least 2k front. 4k is overkill.

3. Super important. Dashcam... you would need to insert a microSD Card. and the data is constantly overide and the card is being used. the old data will be wipped and over written with new data. The SD card will eventually fail and stop recording. if you don't know sd card failed, you might get accident 4 months later ... and you will be mad. MY A119 the old model has a chime sensor. when Sandisk failed, ( after 5 year use ) it started beeping every 3 seconds. so I ordered new sd card ( now I only use Samsung SD CARD. high endurance model) and I'm back in business.

4. Stupid point but important.
I had dashcam with suction mount and it eventually fall while driving in hot day. This A119 use 3M red stuff sticky tape. it's not going anywhere. my a119s never failed me or fall on me. I would only get Sticky tape mount. I do not trust suction cup mount.

5. Built in screen. some dashcam does not have built in screen, my friend's BlackVue models are expensive... but I want to check once in a while. I like models like Viofo that lets me know it's recording.

I can't comment on Garmin, but I have been happy with my Viofo.

If you just want to cover the basics
get his A119 with GPS and Speed Sensor. Get a Samsung High Endurance MicroSD card use the cigarette lighter socket. wiring is long enough to route around the trims. and give you clean install. the dashcam unit is only a size of cigarette box.

IF you want to do the hardwire install for parking mode'
Get something like Viofo A129 pro 2k front and 1080p back. I have A129 4k front and 1080p back.

Get a hardwiring kit. Youtube has tons of videos on how to hardwire dashcams properly.
hard wirekit is typically less than $20. figuring out which fuse to tap is hard.. and find the polarity of the fuse socket is the hard part... but once you understand it should not take more than 1 hour.

the rear camera need to be wired to the front of the car ( connect to the dashcam ) make sure the wire is not pressured by any trims or safety points like seat belt. there are wires in the cable and you do not want to creat a short or cross wiring by pressure.

Someone posted a good deal for a microsd card that can be used with this. Samsung Pro Endurance 128gb for $15.99. Slightly cheaper than the $18.99 I paid just a few days ago.

You'll want an SD card like this which is designed to be rewritten over frequently (which is what dash cams do).

I have 3 in service between my vehicles that are past 3 years and doing okay. They keep better time than the A119 I have in another car that doesn't have GPS.

I like the DR02 in the front because of the wider FOV, and the A119 out the back for wider dynamic range with car headlights coming from the back at night.
