Very tempting for an 80 lb set. But sure it's trust them over my face though. I'm a powerblock fan in that sense.

Like the Bowflex dumbbells, think of it like a horseshoe over a bar, open end down. Even if the locking mechanism fails, the design makes it physically impossible for anything to fall on you as you hold it over your head in any normal exercise.

I bought a pair but my concern is when you place the dumbells upright on your legs prior to bench/incline/etc... how much pressure will that side part create at 80lbs (versus powerblocks are a flat block on each side)

this video is a decent review

Ok, you almost convinced me. Now to weight out... Roughly...

$550 = for power blocks to 90lb. Next time they are on woot
-or-
$300 for these now

I went with these, total with taxes came out to 275 with shipping. Cross my fingers. I'll just do more reps at 80lbs.

Has anyone researched this company and its history? Im unfamiliar with the name. I've seen Lifetime fitness and other Life branded fitness brands but not LifePro. Also any time i see lifetime guarantee or lifetime subscription (thinking all those random VPN clients) i get a bit hesitant. $275 shipped for 2 is super slick, but shipping alone has to be $100 of that so i just worry about longevity of the product (are the gears/locking mechanisms plastic vs. metal? etc) and potential warranty claims in the future.

Coming from a set of bowflex 552s (recently got in on the powerblock deal, do not regret upgrading one bit) the worst part about the bowflex was the selector discs eventually wearing / breaking in a way that, at first they would grab the plate but then drop it as you're going over to the bench. Almost landed on my toes a couple times, thankfully never caused any serious issues. It'd only happened to me a couple times and they were an older (nautilus branded) set. Hopefully these don't suffer from that design flaw, because otherwise this is a great deal.
