Acer says 32GB max ram but I upgraded to Crucial RAM 64GB Kit (2x32GB) DDR5 4800MHz CL40 Laptop Memory CT2K32G48C40S5. Just an FYI, when you first swap out the ram, it took up to 5minutes with a black screen before the BIOS reconfigured and booted up the pc to Windows 11. I also added a 2nd M.2 drive. It was a Crucial P5 Plus 2TB PCIe Gen4 3D NAND NVMe M.2 Gaming SSD and that worked great. I got the speeds the drive advertised. I saw another reviewer mention that an M.2 with chips on both sides of the M.2 would not fit. I believe they were correct because it was tough getting just one stick with chips on one side mounted in the 2nd M.2 slot.

While it does say refurb, it is practically new. It also comes with a 2yr warranty from Allstate. You do get a 30 day return but you pay return shipping.

I have this laptop. Bought refurb and it came looking like new.

Biggest con is the startup sound (you can turn it off in software and bios) and the fan noise even on balanced mode. I'm glad the fans work because cooling is good but it's also not something you'd want to use in a room with others. Press the turbo button and the jet engines fire into overdrive.

Supports 2 sticks of DDR5 and two NVMe gen 4 sticks. Be sure to check clearance on your NVMe sticks as it's kind of tight around the right slot. I believe the GPU is 'up to' 150w.

I paid around $1300 after tax back around Christmas time.

This seems like a pretty solid deal.

Is it easy enough to throw in another 16GB in this thing?

If it were new, even if it was $1300-1400 I might bite but why are there so many refurbished available? It's tempting because I missed out on the Lenovo legion 5i pro for $1400 but B&H took it down the Sunday night I went to buy it. Anyway I'm not sold on this being reliable enough for this much money to gamble on a refurbished unit.

I believe this may have happened with these Acers, but it's just a guess. Businesses that need higher powered machines for their workers often buy them in bulk. At my workplace, we purchase Dells that have been factory refurbished, similar to these Acers. A business may purchase a certain number of machines, IT reimages them with a corporate image, and prepares them for deployment. However, if the project for which they were intended is canceled, IT sends them back to Dell. These machines have never been used, except for an OS reinstall for business purposes. But Dell cannot resell them as new. Usually, a third party commissioned by Dell buys them and repackages them in brown boxes that are not original. At my workplace, we buy these "refurbished" machines, but they are essentially brand new and have received the gold seal of approval from Dell as a certified refurbished unit.

This is directly from the seller's notes:

"This item is Certified Refurbished. It has been professionally restored by an Acer approved vendor. Units are usually cosmetically indistinguishable from New products, but some may show signs of light use. Functionally, these units are equivalent to New. Certified Refurbished units will be shipped in a New Brown Box."

One of the best laptops but honestly at this point just wait for a 4060 laptop at this price

I bought this model from Best Buy and returned it. Benchmarked worse than my sons Asus G15 AE. Battery life is atrocious and it's really loud. Keyboard was mushy. Screen was ok. So I bought the Asus for myself. It's definitely highly spec'd but I was mostly unimpressed. Non gaming battery life was too important.

$1400 a week ago. Some people would prefer to save $240 for essentially the same thing, others would prefer new. I got a refurbished because I wanted to save 20%. But it is likely it will be down to $1400 again soon on BB.

Anyone know how much of an improvement this would be as a replacement to my antique i7-8700 desktop with a 1080 GPU? Also would it have enough power to game on a Samsung g9 ultrawide?

I own this got it on a deal for 1199 new at BB. As others have said I upgraded the memory to 64 gb and added a second nvme. The keyboard is individual rgb addressable not zone. The fans on it can really crank out the air on turbo mode but in balanced they are pretty silent to noticeable when gaming. For Cinebench I can pull better than 1950x scores and not thermal throttle. The 3070ti can put out decent frame rates for AAA games. The screen is awesome at 240hz refresh ips, very little backlight bleed. and Gsync...and it has a num pad. All in all a really decent gaming laptop for the money.

Not sure on the G15 by my cinebench score was 18125 just now. My nvme run at 7000 MB/s and I can pull >60 fps in most every AAA game I play.
