Just as a reference, in June of 2021 the 24K unit was on sale for $1499.00.

If you have the ability to run the 220 line, then the installation is pretty simple. Cut a hole all the way through the wall, mount the indoor unit, mount the outdoor unit, connect the pre charged lines….not much more difficult than that.

I currently have a 12K BTU Pioneer minisplit in my garage. It doesn't cool well at all. Would a 18K BTU unit be noticeably different or should I just spring for 24K?

Is it worth buying a Costco membership to buy this shipped? I don't have a B&M location near me, so i've never bothered becoming a member...

Am I missing something here? This is $1,200.. and I've been seeing mini-splits for around $600-$700 range. Why is this a deal?

It says TWO, but the link shows only one? No indication of two?

These are the MrCool DIY units, so they are installable without a HVAC contractor to vacuum the lines, etc. The lines come pre-charged with coolant

Anyone buy these then hire a contractor to install? If so, what was the contractor price? Thanks.

That is going to vary wildly depending on where you are. Best bet would be to try to hit someone local to you up for an estimate before you buy.

Pre charged lines and the Costco return policy. If these things end up being a bust (not saying they will be, but if), within a reasonable timeframe you can return for a full refund of everything but your install costs.

You can join Costco membership and cancel it before the 1 year anniversary and get full money back. Not saying you should abuse the policy, but it is there for people to try out and cancel if they don't feel it was worth it afterwards.

No. It needs to be installed by a certified tech and i believe you need to do a manual j for ducted systems as an additional step to qualify.
U still get 300 fed rebate regardless of who installs.

Good news is: Mr. Cool's customer service is top notch. I installed one for my in-laws garage conversion. It stopped cooling after almost a year (leak on inside) and the company shipped out a new indoor controller for only shipping fee of $50 asking only for proof of purchase and HVAC technician service call evidence. The bad news is the new unit is starting to spit out ice at night and stops cooling. I searched online and it says it's a possible leak (again) or low refrigerant. Not good considering it's almost summer here in Texas. I might have to install a window unit for them. Not sure if Mr. Cool will stand by it again. BTW, I bought it originally from Amazon. Hope that helps.

Can you add additional air handlers to the individual condenser to cool separate rooms?

Gonna try to install this myself in nyc. Theres already a mini split in the living room with a dead compressor. Just curious what is a reasonable time frame for a return to costco?

Any auto parts store will have a vacuum pump/gauge that you can rent for free.
