If the income was less than $150k in 2022 but more than $150k in 2023, is the person still eligible for the Federal tax credit? If yes, how do you claim it? Asking for a friend
No. If you take delivery in 2023, you file your tax in 2024 for 2023.

NJ residents are no longer eligible for additional $4000 state rebate. They paused the program for 2023 starting 4/17.

You are supposed to keep your car charged in the 30% to 80% range, you dont drive it to 0% then charge. So even at 30% a round trip of 50 to 60 miles isnt an issue...

Ive never ran into a situation where i couldn't do something due to range, or charging, even when all that was available was a 110v outlet...
what if you have only 15% left and could not keep min 30% due to unexpected circumstances? and have an emergency and need to drive somewhere 50 - 100 Miles away?
You never run into this but I had these instances and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Also, long trips for example from Fl to NY will become even longer due often stops to charge.

Do you need to adjust w4 to owe more taxes to IRS so that $7500 can be adjusted against what you owe? I was reading somewhere that $7500 can't be added to the refund.

I see your point, but the problem with a point of sale discount is that car manufacturers will just raise their prices to offset as much of it as they can, so customers will feel that they are getting a discount, but will end up paying more.
Well, for Tesla, at least price is set by Tesla, no dealers. But for other brands, yes, it would depend on demand and supply. If there are plenty of inventory, it would be discounted.

No matter what the fuel source is the car dictates how far you can go without stopping. 95% of the year when not making road trips i can fill up at my house while sleeping.

I look at it a little differently, think about all the time you save all year not going to gas stations, so an extra few minutes during trips is still a big time savings.

Secondly, only a few times have i dedicated tome to charging. Plug in and go to the bathroom, get something to eat, etc... You do adjust a little bit, we dont stop to eat just anywhere, we stop where charging is possible, on the toll system here that is every rest stop so its not hard. Not to mention all the shopping centers with chargers so you can eat lots of different stuff.

Going from 20+ years driving a truck to driving a car took a little adjusting too. Im not a pee in a bottle so i can drive from point a to point b as fast as possible type of person.

Again, you are making excuses. The range of a comparable ICE will be longer than the EV. It takes just a few minutes to refill an ICE. An EV takes much longer. In the time it takes you to walk into a store and do the number of things you insist you like to do, the ICE will be refueled and on its way. If you are talking more destination charging, e.g. you are really going shopping and it just so happens there is a charger nearby, you may have something, but that really isn't much of a thing around here. Also, charging spots aren't nearly as numerous and therefore far more likely to have to go out of your way to get to than a gas pump.

And STILL, those selling used 1-5 year old Teslas with tens of thousands of miles have them priced the same as a new one (and won't negotiate!). Are they just hoping to prey on a woefully uninformed buyer?

My insurance is cheaper after I dropped a 2010 tundra and added a 2023 model y performance
Yeah, if anyone was interested in doing anything other than concern trolling, they could get a quote and tell what the difference is. My EV costs 850/year for full coverage, 250/500/250 liability, 500 deductible for collision/comp, UM/UIM, PIP, Rental coverage and roadside service. My 15 year old ICE is over 400/year to insure. So the expenses that these people who are never going to consider an EV are imagining really don't exist.

Question, I'm set to pick up mine tomorrow at noon. Would they adjust the price? I haven't finalized my deal yet and would only lose the down payment
We picked our Y up the day after the last announcement. They automatically adjusted the $. They aren't trying to throw a wrench in the system. Just be happy it took this long to get it.

Not sure why this is FP. I don't think I've seen any car sale make the list before.

Yes, you can of course order the LR, delivery times are also significantly shorter now. For reference, I placed the order on Jan 21, and taking delivery April 21, 3 months to the date.
How did you place one because I can't see it on the website

That's the story across the car market.

When supply was low the past couple of years, many people bought cars at an inflated price, cause you know supply & demand. Some of them are likely under water from a market perspective. The ignorance is thinking that something's value in the market is based on what YOU paid for it vs. what OTHERS would pay for it. I've seen numerous stories of even used car dealers doing the same - buying cars at auction, and since market values are changing (declining) so quickly, by the time they get the car and turn it around for sale, they're already looking at losing money. The best you can do to advertise it at some reasonable price point that still gives margin and hope you get a sucker that wants it badly enough.
