Anyone know if these will print on cardstock? We use a lot of cardstock and have a hard time finding the specs on what paper they will accept.

Have to get this instead?

For color and b&w? Even for aftermarket that's cheap.

I heard this printer has issues with the wireless networking, otherwise I'd go for it.
Absolutely it does. Worst printer I have ever owned because of this aspect. Nearly every time we use it, it has to be re-setup. It constantly says the IP address has changed and we have to leave it wired to LAN because the wireless never works right.

I'm waiting on a deal that does 2 sided scanning - very hard to find still. I've been looking at least a couple of years.

Is there a feature comparison chart between these three models? The best I can find is that the 642 does not have duplex scanning, 644 has 600x600 print resolution, and the 654 has 1200x600 print resolution. This information is from Canon forums so I do not know if they are accurate. BestBuy's comparison feature is pretty useless.

I presume you know that most routers are set up to dynamically assign IP addresses based on need and availability. Therefore it is indeed possible for the printer to have different ip addresses assigned by the router over time. This isn't a fault of the printer. The printer is simply using an ip assigned by the router.

Have you considered setting the router so that it provides a static (not dynamic) address? I've found that the vast majority of wireless printer problems are resolved by doing this. Takes just a minute to accomplish.

Canon is better than the "DRM you don't own it HP", but for consumer printers Brother are the best and then prolly Lexmark. I have a Canon and it is buggy and wireless freezes at random times and I need to reboot. The last two Brother printers I got rid of because the transfer would cost more than the new printer (this is after 70000 pages), and the Canon was cheap. Well it works but its nowhere near as solid as the Brother. I'm looking for reasons to get rid of it, and their management software is unintuitive and also buggy. But it chugs along and faults every couple of weeks, but it today's economy I deal.

Also I would say go ahead, but if you have any smarts avoid HP printers at all costs unless you want HP picking at your pocket all the time and going out of their way to sell you subscriptions and lock out third party cartridges.

Using 3rd party in Brother is never a problem.
What is a "transfer"?

Same. I've gone through 3 sets of 3rd party toner cartridges, two from eBay, one from Amazon. They all worked ok (certainly not as good as oem) except for one set which left horrible streaks and smudges on every single page. Ended up being two bad cartridges (black and magenta). It's a crap shoot finding a decent set.

The full duplex printing, copying, and scanning are awesome. Spend the extra $50 to get this feature on the 644.

My wireless works perfectly fine. So great to be able to print from my desktop, laptop, iPhone, and iPad.

I don't see it online at canon or in the manual.

B&H website only mentions single sided scanning:

For EVERYONE worried about the WiFi issues, check your router and see if you have QoS turned on. (Quality of service). I had the wifi issues forever, I bought a new Sonos Arc speaker and it kept dropping. When screaming at Sonos & their support, they pointed me to a known issue. QoS prioritizes certain wifi connections which causes drops.

Moral of the story, I turned it off (2021 ASUS Router) and everything works flawlessly.

So, as someone said, the issue wasn't with my wireless printer but some setting within the router which seems like someone overthought how smart a router should be.

I haven't restarted my Canon MF printer since 2021.

My MF733CDW began having wifi issues after I upgraded to a netgear mesh system. Went into router settings to reserve printer IP, went into printer networks settings to assign manual IP, turned off auto acquire in ipv4, turned off power save mode. Haven't had a problem since with IP address reassignment or drops. Note that reserving the printer IP alone in my router didn't fix the issue, my printer would still say IP address has been changed after a period of being idle.

Anyone know when the Brother 3770 will go on sale? It has been $500 or higher above msrp since the inflation hit the longshore port labor and truckers started at 100k entry level..since then, crickets....
