Got this during the last deal and have been happy with it. For cloning my old drive, the Samsung Magician software worked much better than the 2 free cloning softwares that I tried (Acronis, Macrium).

Reality is the difference between the two are almost to none For you to have an idea 7450MB/svs7000MB/s on reading speed while on writing speed 6900MB/svs5000MB/s. On numbers looks amazing but to the normal users it won't be any diff.
My advice: if you already have the 980 pro. Stay quite, if you don't have any, pick the 990 pro if price diff is not too much.
I personally have the 980 pro 2TB in my ps5. Currently I built a new computer and I am waiting for any of them to drop under 100. ππ»ππ»
My preference is the sn850x.

Was this the one with the firmware problem or was that the 990 ?
Download Samsung magician and update the firmware. But reality is, I got a 980 pro bought back in 2020. I never updated the firmware and just because of all the comments I updated it last week. Has been running like q charm. ππ»
Prices will probably come down further, but pulled the trigger on it. Really good price for a great drive. Their cloning software is really easy to use.

In my limited experience, the 980 Pro scored higher in IOPS than the new 990 Pro I just installed. Mind you, the 980 was also older by 9 months. The 990 did score higher in the other speed ratings, but I was disappointed by the IOPS results. High sustained speeds are cool to look at, but if you aren't routinely transferring large files, it's kind of a pointless metric to care too much about.

Not going to buy until I actually hit my storage limit on the PS5 and need more.
