I'm at a point in life where I proudly wear Costco clothing and I'm interested in getting a fanny pack. Excuse me, I'm going to clean off my New Balance shoes as well (FR, they're quite comfy)
Lots of times this is all you need
I walk around the track with phone and radio - same for riding a bike.
Don't need a backpack and pockets aren't practical
Wear these on any side.
Back when these were called "fanny packs" it became an issue because in UK "fanny" is slang for female genitals lol.
I use a Lowe Alpine fanny pack and wear it as a cross-body chest (or back) pack when traveling in airports, etc. It doesn't impede your movement, won't interfere with a backpack, keeps important documents right in front of you, and can still be readjusted as a fanny pack later if you want. Game changer!

Bum bag ftw!
There used to be a distinction where a waist pack was lower profile for the front, while fanny packs were 2-3x the size and mainly for the back. I haven't seen them advertised separately since the mid 90s.

Considering for running, but seems a little bulky.
I have this and wouldn't recommend it for running. It's better used during slower movement and walking because the strap is thin and the back is a slippery nylon material, so it bounces around.

Needs an ugly ass visor to complete the look
Slaves to fashion won't consider wearing fanny/lumbar packs. I'ved used a larger one for downhill ski days for years. This season I settled for a small backpack because the zipper had broken on my lumbar pack, and I found a backpack to be much less practical. Lumbar packs are the minivans of the pack world. Both are often much more practical than other choices, but both are shunned by many for fear of the style police.
