Just my ¢.02, but I've been using the 5700 for nearly 3 years and played a multitude of VR games with no issues relating to my GPU.

Oh, man. It would be really... financially imprudent of me to buy this right now, but I've been waiting for this exact 6800gt since BF. It'll be twice as much as I've ever paid for a graphics card, but I am purchasing mainly for VR gaming. The 6800xt, by my limited research looking at 4k specs on tomshardware, is a significant step up from the 6750xt and down.

It'll just be a fantastic bonus that I can run basically anything at 1440p as well. I'm gonna have to stare at it in the cart another hour.

Sad to see 6800XT's still going for what they were going for last October. The Asrock 6800XT was $515 at Newegg for like a month back in the October/November time frame.

Great for 1440p. For 4k, the $600 6950xt is better.

Hard to pull the trigger with the 7800 around the corner.
Is there any sign the 7800 is actually around the corner?

The 4060ti definitely is (next month) and while at $450 it won't be as fast as this card, depending on how close it gets might affect this card's pricing.

Closest it ever got to was $600 a couple weeks ago
The AsRock 6950XT was $599 last week. Picked it up. Arrived the other day in a ASrock outer box box. I think it came straight from the manufacturers distributorship.I did not realize it's a 3-slot mammoth of a card.

Two questions. OK, three questions. Thanks in advance.
  1. How good bad is the free The Last of Us game ?
  2. How hard is it to reclaim the free game after Amaon emails you the game code
  3. If you transfer the same card to a different PC can you transfer the game?

The reason I ask is the AMD Ryzen game bundles were near impossible to get after you jumped through all the hoops. I bought a PowerColor Fighter RX 6600 but get the same free game.

Here's another thing in the mix, that I got in this morning's Tom's Hardware email feed:

RTX 4070 might fall to $549. nVidia is offering a $50 rebate to resellers, that the resellers might or might not pass on to consumers.

What seems to be happening is 4000 series is laying an egg, and price pressure by AMD RX cards is extreme. Sure nVidia is still the market leader by a large margin over AMD, but markets shift based on price.

Beat me to it, was just about to post this. Lowest I've personally seen on this. Had been considering this when it dropped to $539, but with the extra $20 off, I decided to pull the trigger.
2 or 3 months ago we did had the same price that's when I bought it.

The 6950xt is a space heater for your house. It's an energy hog. The 6800xt is the card people should want from RDNA 2. I think it should be $350-$400.

I just started playing Cyberpunk with my 6800XT last night. 1440p with almost all graphics options turned all the way up AND running ray tracing the game is running perfect so far. According to the benchmark it's in the high 40's which imo anyway makes this game perfectly playable.

My 6800XT is an Asrock Taichi so slightly factory overclocked.

EDIT. Forgot to mention this is paired up to a 5600X and 32gb of DDR4.

For anyone who cares, I got the Asrock Phantom 6800XT OC before black Friday for around $530 from newegg. However, it also had a $20 rebate from Asrock that I got w/o any issues. I also had a Capital One Venture X card that gave be cash back rewards of 23%. Other's had a big discount if paying through Affirm (I think this is no longer available). IMO the Capital One rewards is the key here and you all may be able to get it too if you have the card. Here's how I and others (search reddit) got it.
  1. Install the Capital One Shopping browser plug in and link up your Capital One Venture X card or other eligible card.
  2. Ensure all contact info for your card and Capital One Shopping goes to an email you monitor and won't get filtered for spam
  3. Ensure plugin is active and poke around on the newegg site. Put this in your cart and click through to purchase even entering your card info, but do not place the order, just stop at the final step
  4. If you're lucky, you'll get an email with a "special offer" anywhere from 30 min to 24 hours later. You need to click through the email link and it'll up the rewards from the standard for newegg to the email offer rate.
  5. Make your purchase.
This works for almost any retailer that the shopping rewards works for. I've had it work for faucets in my cart from Home Depot and other large ticket items from Home Depot and Lowes.

All in all, my 6800XT was less than $400 before tax. Some got it for close to $300 with stacking the Affirm and Capital One rewards.

Some decent deals popping up. Which means amazing deals on the second hand market, if you don't mind risking that peace of mind. Lots of ppl upgrading and selling their old cards. Was able to grab a 6900xt for 400 bucks last week on OfferUp, cash offer. Which was great, didn't have to deal with tax or shipping costs! The card runs great, albeit it smelled like axe body spray. Had to give it a thorough cleaning and air dusting.

I had this one for about 6 months before selling it and I really loved it, really silent and powerful. I suggest you undervolt it a bit, just look up on youtube. You lose at most 3% of perfomance but the card will run a whopping 100w less AND cooler and quieter, it's almost like a miracle lol.
