Volt Lighting is a highly reputable company that sells pro grade lighting. They are right up there with light fixtures such as FX Luminaire. AMP Lighting is another highly reputable company but you can't buy their lights as a consumer and have to go through an AMP certified dealer and installer.
This seems to be a specialty kit only found at Costco (not sold on the Volt Lighting web page). I priced out everything in this kit vs. the prices noted on the Volt Lighting web page and you'd be looking at almost a $1,000 savings purchasing this kit after rebate. I rarely see any significant sales on Volt Lighting lights/transformers so this is a pretty stellar deal as it includes everything you need to install a pretty decent sized light kit at your house.
Here's the prices I noted on the Volt Lighting webpage:
Total Price = $1714
You can change out the bulbs if you want but the bulbs in this kit are on the higher lumen end. The spotlights are 5W bulbs (50W altogether) and the path lights are 3W (21W altogether). Since this system comes with a 150W transformer (looks to be their Slim line vs. standard 150W transformer), you'd only be taken up 71W with the lights/bulbs that come with this kit. Typically you want to max out @ 80% of the transformer's max wattage which would be 120W which means you have about 50W of wattage space to add additional lighting.
If I were going to nitpick on this kit it would be with the wiring. I would have rather seen 12 gauge wiring instead of 14 gauge but that's just me. More than likely you'll be fine with 14 gauge unless you're looking at extremely long runs in which voltage drop might be an issue. Most likely this won't be a problem as this transformer allows you to add 4 different wires for a 12V (shorter runs) and 4 different wires for a 15V (longer runs). Here's a link to this transformer: https://www.voltlightin
All in all seems to be a SD to me.
Thanks OP!
