Leds that don't change colors are pretty much useless.

These lights come with a lifetime warranty and are made of brass. Typically pro-grade lights are made of either brass or copper. Cheaper lights are generally not very efficient which means they pull more voltage and allow less lights to be added to a transformer. This is not the crap that you buy at Home Depot with plastic housing and stakes, cheap LED bulbs, crappy wiring and irregular voltages. Lights and stakes are all brass (i.e. very durable) and the bulbs are not integrated (i.e. you can change them out for dimmer/brighter/cooler/warmer bulbs or replace them if they die). Not to mention the transformer's box is a multi-tap 12V & 15V).

Volt Lighting is a highly reputable company that sells pro grade lighting. They are right up there with light fixtures such as FX Luminaire. AMP Lighting is another highly reputable company but you can't buy their lights as a consumer and have to go through an AMP certified dealer and installer.

This seems to be a specialty kit only found at Costco (not sold on the Volt Lighting web page). I priced out everything in this kit vs. the prices noted on the Volt Lighting web page and you'd be looking at almost a $1,000 savings purchasing this kit after rebate. I rarely see any significant sales on Volt Lighting lights/transformers so this is a pretty stellar deal as it includes everything you need to install a pretty decent sized light kit at your house.
Here's the prices I noted on the Volt Lighting webpage:
  • 10x VOLT® Premium Brass Spotlights with Attached Stakes and 25' of Lead Wire - $550
  • 10x VOLT® LED MR-16 Bulbs (2700K/350 Lumens/30W Halogen Equivalent) - $170
  • 7x VOLT® Brass Path & Area Lights with Attached Stakes and 25' of Lead Wire - $455
  • 7x VOLT® LED GU4 BiPin Bulbs (2700K/300 Lumens/20W Halogen Equivalent) - $112
  • 1x VOLT® 150-Watt Stainless Transformer (Capable of supporting additional fixtures) - $180
  • 1x Photocell and timer (built-in to the transformer) - $30
  • 1x Stainless Steel Pedestal Mount for Transformer and Hammer stakes - $60
  • 4x VOLT® Weather-Proof Wire Hubs and PVC stakes - $80
  • 1x 100' Low-Voltage Wire Spool (14AWG) - $42
  • 2x 25' Low-Voltage Wire Spool (14AWG) - $20
  • 1x VOLT® Wire Strippers - $15
  • 1x VOLT® Step-by-step Installation Guide - n/a
  • 1x VOLT® Lifetime Warranty (Covers all included products) - n/a

Total Price = $1714

You can change out the bulbs if you want but the bulbs in this kit are on the higher lumen end. The spotlights are 5W bulbs (50W altogether) and the path lights are 3W (21W altogether). Since this system comes with a 150W transformer (looks to be their Slim line vs. standard 150W transformer), you'd only be taken up 71W with the lights/bulbs that come with this kit. Typically you want to max out @ 80% of the transformer's max wattage which would be 120W which means you have about 50W of wattage space to add additional lighting.

If I were going to nitpick on this kit it would be with the wiring. I would have rather seen 12 gauge wiring instead of 14 gauge but that's just me. More than likely you'll be fine with 14 gauge unless you're looking at extremely long runs in which voltage drop might be an issue. Most likely this won't be a problem as this transformer allows you to add 4 different wires for a 12V (shorter runs) and 4 different wires for a 15V (longer runs). Here's a link to this transformer: https://www.voltlighting.com/150w...ransformer. I do like the fact that they included a timer and photocell as it's an add-on if you purchase this from Volt Lighting directly.

All in all seems to be a SD to me.

Thanks OP!
