It uses your Wi-Fi, once they're on your network they can pretty much see everything.

That's not the issue. The issue is it uses wifi, meaning it can potentially look at everything you do on the internet, passwords, content, everything.

The 2 doorbells apple sells support HomeKit secure video which means all recordings are end to end encrypted. No one but you can access the recordings, not even apple.

Edit: you will need a home hub (HomePod or Apple TV) to live you or view your recordings remotely

Unfortunately I don't. I dumped Ring and went with Eufy to avoid the subscription. As much as I have tried I have never been able to configure the Eufy to detect visitors as well as my old Ring Pro. The Eufy needs a person to stay in shot for maybe 5 seconds before it registers them. This means it misses quite a few of my deliveries.

This deal only works for people who like to give a lot of money to Amazon and its founder.

We have a Ring doorbell that came with our new home and it's absurd how they are charging so much for subscription just to have recordings.

Thankfully, our situation gave me a good reason to convince my wife to setup a NAS system with surveillance so I could take care of our recordings ourselves.

Asustor + Surveillance Center app + ONVIF/RTSP camera = 🤘

It will work with your existing doorbell chime. You take off your old doorbell and install this one using the existing wiring. That wiring provides the power and rings your doorbell. If you already have an echo Dot or even better an echo Show, it is very easy to set it up as the chime. That's how I have mine set up. I bought it a few months ago at the same price and it arrived looking brand new. Not a single scratch.

Depends on the type of ring doorbell you have. This one does not work woth a mechanical chime.
