I just happened to be comparing some of these mini-PC's on Amazon and noticed that many are "on sale" (the prices/coupons are actually lower than the usual price). There are a lot of specs to compare, but for the price and intended purpose, these seem like a great value. One example:

The big problem with these no-name machines is the absence of after-sales support. Don't expect bios or driver updates or any rma service. You just have to hope and pray that it keeps working. Personally I might risk $150 on something like this, but once it gets towards $300 then I'd prefer to go with a known entity. And I'd never buy directly from a no-name website like this. At least with Amazon you have some protection.

I'd be all in if the power button was bigger.

Any reason why I would get this one over the AM06 version which has dual NIC and powered by USB-C?

One thing to look out for on these minis are the M.2 slots. A lot of them are SATA and not PCIe.

I also got 10 off for new registration. That brought my cost down to 349. No sales tax either. All those things added up to significant savings over the current amazon sales prices.

The SSD details are exactly my concern, too. It's not listed in the specs, as far as I could find. In fact, I e-mailed AceMagician and contacted them via Amazon Support this morning (no response yet).

I asked whether the SSD would be PCI or SATA-based. Some recent user reviews (on Amazon) state that they received PCI drives, but I'd rather get an "official" answer than purchase and return it. Lots of vendors re-use listings and change specs (sometimes for the better), so at least some of the reviews are for a prior revision of the item. I'll try to add an update here if they respond.

Update: I purchased the AceMagician system that I mentioned earlier and did receive a generic PCI 3.0/NVME drive in it. As expected, I never heard back from AceMagician.

Using that machine as a router/firewall like opnsense/pfsense.

Not so sure this is a great deal. These mini box PCs are pretty tight in pricing. $50 takes you up a significant step in performance. Coupons abound as well. Unless you know specifically how much power you need, I'd either go for the cheapest available (headless transcoder, project box etc) or step up to $450 range (after coupons) for better value to performance.

I've been looking at this one for a couple days for a pfsense/opnsense router. https://www.amazon.com/3-40Ghz-De...f9840&th=1. But now I'm considering the one you posted for a chance at 1gb open vpn traffic. The one I linked may do 1gb with wireguard but not OpenVPN.

The unit package included a power adapter, it's bigger than my PD charger. It's amazing function the powered by type-c!
