I played the original. It's probably more of a niche sci-fi game and won't appeal to most. But it's good for those who like sci-fi. I don't know if that helps, haha.

It's an adventure game, like King's Quest or Monkey Island (the older games in those series anyway). It's a sequel to Beneath a Steel Sky from the 90s and the gameplay is close to point-and-click adventure games from that era.
You don't need to play the original first, though. I didn't and it was fine although I didn't understand a few things until I played the original, which I did immediately after since I liked the sequel so much. I liked the sequel better actually, although the original is good, too, and is free for PC.
