This. I didn't do my research and bought a single hose unit for my office as it gets hotter than the rest of the house due to some IT equipment running in there which generates heat. The unit seemed to work well enough, blowing out cold air, but the office never seemed to truly cool down. It was this odd humid yet cooler atmosphere that wasn't what I wanted and seemed to run constantly to maintain a temp that was only 2 degrees lower than the rest of the house in a ~12x15 room. Got a dual hose at 2/3's the btus of the single hose and it will cool the room by 2 degrees in ~15m and make it feel equal to the rest of the house without needing to run 24/7.

Not trying to crap talk the deal. It's a good price comparitively to the market. I'm sharing because I thought the whole dual hose/single hose argument was just people being ac elitist. Lol. They weren't. It makes a world of difference. And even though they are pricier, consider the increased cost due to lack of efficiency and running so much longer for single hose in the long run. Just my 2 cents.
Single hose :/
I've lived my whole life with a single hose and never had any complaints

I used a single hose non inverter model, and a dual hose inverter model ( 3x the cost) I never had the issue your talking about for the same application and same room situation ( tech heat ). Both units cooled the room perfectly like ice. I only upgrade to inverter because it became my GME office and I run it all summer. Much less noise and about half or less power consumption. Really sounded like you had a faulty unit, makes zero sense.

It's not even close, the dual hose units far outperform the single hose units. I had a similar experience as a the person who replied previously where I didn't do the proper research before purchasing a single hose unit. We use it in the kitchen to keep that end of the house cool and the single hose unit did almost nothing. Once I realized my error I purchased a dual hose unit and it actually works. A 10,000 BTU signal hose portable air conditioner is really at best equivalent to about 4,000 BTU window air conditioner.

Not sure what's going on there.... But when our ac went out last summer in Texas our family was great (70) in the master bedroom. The rest of the house was 88 with high humidity.

it actually makes a lot of sense. AC works by dumping the heat energy somewhere. Preferably you want to dump those heat outside. A double hose allows outside air to come in, through one hose, heat up and exit through another. Single hose means cold air comes from inside, heats up and gets dumped to the outside. Those cold air would need to be replaced by outside air coming in. So literally single hose means you're heating and cooling at the same time, and only by wasting a crap ton of extra energy you can slightly get ahead.

Don't ever buy single hose units. It's like trying to fill the bath tub without a drain plug. Will it fill up? Sure, if the water is super high. But by the time you fill it up, 10 tubs of water ,(cold air) has been wasted.

It's possible but it was blowing out cold air. Just took much longer and the room wouldn't get to that slightly crisp cold I desired (I like it colder than most.)
