I've owned these for a couple years… they started cracked and sticking within months of owning them. I paid $199 for a set of 2. As of now I stopped using them because they're just a hassle. I went ahead and paid up for single weighted dumbbells

Perfect timing, although I wanted 90 lb dumbbells, the price can't be beat even in the used market.

Ok, I can see the remaining plates falling out from the stand if it gets knocked over, but using their twist system, how can they become loose and fall out while using them? Confused It's their twist/locking mechanism that is getting circumvented somehow... so poor design or poor quality... or both? User error shouldn't be able to come into play at that point.

You can always do. DIY rack. Buy a bench / horse from harborFreight for about 30 bucks.
