What's the point of getting a 4070 then?

Is the 5070 gonna outperform a 1660 super?

That's some highway robbery
It actually loses to a 150w 3070ti in several games even with a better CPU..... The benchmarks are pretty wierd.

It's an average display. It's sufficient, but a "very nice display" would be brighter such as Lenovo Legion Pro's 500 nits. Clearly this is where HP decided to cut some costs relative to everything else that's in this model, which is pretty good.

By the way, I'm not getting the OP's price as spec'ed above, even with the coupon.
Do you have a link for the Legion Pro 500 that is not 2x the money? I agree that more nits are important for bright sunlight and other specs can be improved for gaming. But OLED and higher DPI are suitable for many people with indoor conditions and non-gaming use. For the money (granted, I have not seen it or used it), it looks like a Slickdeal.

My comment was to take objection to the other poster's comment that this HP's screen is a "very nice display." It is not a bad display, but 300 nits is pretty much the minimally acceptable brightness, especially for a gaming laptop. It is plenty usable, I agree. I have a laptop with a 300-nit display, and it is fine. Would I call it a "very nice display"? Not really considering I do own a 500-nit display Legion Pro 5 (Gen 7, not the current), which I bought for $1,300.

Overall, however, this HP is a decent package if not outsitanding.

There is this deal for the Legion Pro 5 (Gen 8) with the 500-nit screen (and 4070 GPU) for a little over $1,600:

I'd say, Omen is better overall.

1. It has a better screen in terms of quality and brightness. FHD on a 17" is absolutely abysmal. That being said, the later does offer a higher refresh rate and G-sync, which the Omen doesn't.
2. Omen has a much much powerful processor.
3. Omen is noticeablely lighter.
4. Alienware has a bigger battery.
5. Omen has a slightly better GPU.

4070 is garbage on pc. On a laptop? Better off getting a higher 30 series model.
The 4070 was a scam and that's why most of these laptops here Have them

That's a dumb statement.
You can play far cry 3 and gears of War on a hd3000 laptop from 2011.
8gb is fine. What you find good is your opinion

Do other manufacturers support their laptops for a longer period of time than HP? I had sworn off HP because they annoyed me that they no longer carried the battery in my very expensive Spectre laptop. At 5 years old, the battery began to swell and they can no longer offer the part. I don't mean that I expected them to replace it, they literally no longer have the battery that I need. So a perfectly good i7 machine is now landfill.
