Costco is best deal for me, $2.39/dozen. I miss when Aldi had $0.99 eggs, still $4/dozen in SoCal.

The largest egg producer made record profits during COVID and the avian flu and all but admitted they raised their prices despite not really being affected. They explained in their earnings reports what made supply hard and why the prices rose, but then touted their record earnings to investors. We keep getting duped.
And yet people never wake up.

Must be regional. Don't see anything at Fred Meyers (unless Kroger is its own store).
Kroger is a stand-alone supermarket/grocery chain that's ubiquitous in many states. And Kroger is also the owner/parent company of Fred Meyers.

No, be more self-sufficient. Raise your own chickens. Grow your own food.

I live in a rural area, but I'm technically in city limits. City says I can have four hens. That's four less eggs a day I need to buy, and a couple fewer pounds of chicken in a year or two. Nobody is around to tell me to get rid of the couple extra hens that happened to show up...

Self-sufficiency isn't for everyone, I agree. But the trend over the last 50-100 years has gone way too far the wrong direction.

I tried to build my own tablet once so I could be on Slickdeals without any help, but it didn't go very far.

You don't need to mine lithium to raise chickens...

Many of my neighbors do chickens. I do many things likely considered 'self-sufficient', but not chickens Smilie I don't know if everyone doing their own chickens would be sustainable.

What I do know is -- many (though not all) players in the egg industry took advantage of the misfortune of companies hurt by the bird flu and gouged us. Smilie

BTW, I think it's cool, and great, that many raise their own chickens.
