PLEASE READ:
I want a 5k screen for a super long time, tried it in office, the color is gorgeous, best 3rd party monitor for Mac, if you are not an Apple fan like me, you can skip this one, and of course this machine would not get any technical support after another 3 years, get an M1 machine if that's your concern.
I placed an order several days ago when I saw it, there is something I want to share with you:
- It's listed "New Open-Box", however, the box has several wear signs, been compressed hard, and Mac itself has a very minimum sign of use
- The keyboard is not from original box, but it's authentic(maybe new), since it has a price tag $99 on it (I assume it was retail version)
- It came with an older macOS, you can upgrade it to the newest Ventura, but during the update, I saw the drive name "unnamed" instead "Macintosh HD"(which should be the original one)
- The WEIRDEST thing is when I tried to search the SN at Apple site, it came a purchase date that made me laugh a bit, I don't think Steve started working on Mac in 1978 lol (all SNs from Mac itself, box, matched)
- I used a bit during yesterday evening, webcam is good, so far no other noticeable issues
- Some images attached for reference
That's all for now, let me know what you think, I don't think it's a super slick deal, but consider LG ultra fine is over 1200 and has some connectivity issue (with my Thinkpad, it blackscreen constantly).
But if you really want to have an Apple calibrated color screen, this might be the cheapest choice for you.
Of course, let me know if you want me do more interesting test on this machine, and I will update it here

Why do people buy Apple computers?
Why do people buy Apple computers?
As far as why people buy Apple computers I'd guess it might be because they get a system that's built with a high end fit and finish, not some plastic e-waste abomination straight out of the box and it runs an OS that doesn't wantonly spy on you or come factory-infested with bloatware, garbage and literal ads even when you pay for it.

I'm so glad there are no advertisements in Apple products...
Also, I love having a fantastic monitor that cannot be attached to anything and can only be used by the outdated built-in computer!

btw - this and the 2019 models are still many mac users' main computers until Apple comes out with a new 27" iMac. They also have user-upgradeable memory so there's still a lot to like on these.

I5 10500 feels no slower than M1 (side by side with 24 M1 imac) for everyday tasks.
Memory is upgradeable.
Screen is about 30% larger than 24 M1 IMac.
I got IMac M1 as new from Costco for $1k and $700 for 16GB/i5 27 IMac used off ebay (9 months warranty left.) I actually feel the 27 is a better buy.
Both should give you 5years+ service time.
