Mountain House freeze dried backpacking / camping meals 20% off, free shipping

I am not sure exactly what is on sale; I was just looking for the curry chicken and all the pouches and some of the larger kits are 20% off. The kits can be found at discount (like Costco) but I have never seen the individual pouch meals on sale before. Nice chance to try the flavors WM, Dicks and REI don't have.

Why? Super convenient and super light weight. The point is backpacking. They cost way too much for most other use. (~$10/meal) They have a crazy long shelf life.
How do they taste? Some are better than others but this (and Peak Refuel) are expensive and generally taste good. I actually *like* the beef stroganoff but it is not Mom's cooking. https://youtu.be/1BnUykjVFrE

You'll need a long spoon to stir and eat them: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5763454

Hey look, my "moutain house" alert finally triggered! 🤣 Hell yeah, thanks, ordered $200+ worth of meals 😁! I've only had a couple of these before (I just started thru hiking) so I chose a large variety so I could try them all out to find out what I liked the best. These are super delicious after a long day's hike and you want something to really satiate you before you crash for the night and hike out the next morning. Thanks again!

Yes the 15 pack at Costco is cheaper per item - less variety though (and cheaper in store I think): https://www.costco.com/mountain-h...42273.html

Second and third paragraphs read like a sponsored AI post 😂 I appreciate the sale alert though, TY OP.

Xenocide23 above got rep'd for Costco shout-out. Big thanks!!! Perhaps you should post a separate thread!
https://www.costco.com/mountain-h...42273.html

15 pouches for $99 ($6.66 per pouch) This is an excellent price per pouch.
btw, with mountain house, forget about the # of servings. 1 pouch = 1 meal. I'm heading over to Costco tomorrow to see if they are the same price or cheaper, if not in stock, I'll order online.

Never, ever, go by servings since this is part of the emergency food trickster marketing. If you have to compare, the best way is price per ounce comparison--even then you have to be careful and read carefully to see if the price per ounce is reconstituted with water or freeze-dried, or dehydrated.

These are terrible. I have like 20 I will probably never eat after buying costco packs.

If you're using them for backpacking and not emergencies, do yourself an enormous favor and just splurge for Peak Refuel. They are vastly superior in every way.

Peak Refuel is pretty good but I prefer Mountain House more. Plus, Peak Refuel is much more expensive and rarely has big sales.

Under the Shop pull down, they have a few items listed as sale items which are also discounted.

I don't find the Costco pack that good of deal. I don't count the granola as a "meal." Literally granola with some dehydrated milk. Trivial to make yourself to take backpacking. That's how it appears so cheap per meal but not that great of value IMO
