After spending the last decade watching Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron charge ever more ridiculous prices for the same 1-2TB SSDs whiles hard drives approached 20GB, I for one am glad they are getting their just desserts.

I got this one last week

https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/fp/820004

installed it today transferred all the games to it works flawlessly although everyone raised their price $8 this week but Best Buy still includes free heat sink and it worked perfectly with $15 off using my Amex offer however there is also some decent Best Buy card offers that may save you more as well

Prices are crashing but still laptop manufacturers are selling 256gb storage
This is what makes me so mad...seeing 2000$ computers with a 256gb ssd and an old disk drive.

YMTC has like low single digit market share only right now globally. The truth is Samsung (1/3 market share) has been refusing to cut production despite very weak demand until very recently.

It's gaining shares rapidly in China and the other 3 have to shift overstock in China elsewhere. Without YMTC, the big 3 can easily have backdoor deal or acquiescence to keep price high.

Samsung, Kioxia, WDC, SK Hynix, Micron...not sure what big 3 you are talking about.

Thought Samsung, Hynix and Micron - but obviously I was wrong in thinking Kioxia is small and WDC does not has its own NAND.

Still, with YMTC, a lot less likely others can put up a price control. If BYD is allowed to sell cars in the US, the car price will be 30% or more off instantly.

have you tried google? No need ChatGPT for this. On a side note, I tried BARD, it gave me some hilarious answers.

Put simply, you want TLC and DRAM, more importantly, buy reputable brands for critical data.
