It seems like Viofo is trying to clear out stocks to make room for the new products with the Sony Starvis 2 sensor. They've released the a139 so I expect more to follow....
I bought this a couple of months ago for around the same price. The video quality is good and it's easy to set up. Be aware that the motion detection and 24h recording require the hardwire kit that you need to plug into your vehicle's fuse box. Fortunately, I found instructions on Youtube for the latter and concealing the cables for my car. It's also recommended to use an 'endurance' micro SD card.
I have bought my BlackVue from BlackboxMyCar vender. They even have their own website that sells a bunch of other dash cams. Great customer service and they respond emails pretty quickly.

I'm curious--if anyone else has had this problem or conundrum.

You have a dashcam, and happen to get your car valeted.

You get back in your car and drive off.

Would be SO GREAT if there was as button you can press to give you the last notifications when the car was turned back on.

Sometimes I want to know if there was any kind of issues before I drive off the lot.

Look into the Thinkware Q1000 for exactly this

Ours records 24/7 as long as it's plugged in. We leave it on until we are home from wherever we went so it records everything. We had our truck in the shop for an air bag recall and it recorded everything.

BlackBoxMyCar isn't a random fly-by-night seller. https://judge.me/reviews/blackboxmycar

BlackBox is a Vancouver Canada seller that ships from across the border from Blaine WA. Highly recommended. Ditto for the cam and the price. Beats all the crap this is often shilled here.

Newer cars are making it difficult to hardwire. Check your car and fuse panel before assuming you can get this hardwired.
Also check to make sure your 12V port is not constant, or it will keep recording, possibly drain the battery.

Doesnt this kill your car battery? Do you have another battery just for the camera?

There's a toggle on the hardwire kit to allow how much current you want it to use. Depending on if you want it to record 24/7 or when motion is detected, the former will require more power. It will drain your battery, however, from what I've read it will stop and turn off when it detects your battery isn't able to send the chosen constant current. This is supposed to be way before you have a dead battery since it's very little current. I've had mine shut off over the weekend before and didn't have any issues starting the car.

I have this camera and it's great when it works, but at least for me it occasionally doesn't turn on when you start the car, which is a real issue.

Depends on how big your battery or batteries are. A car battery, sure it's probably a great idea to set the low voltage properly on the hardwire kit. With my truck batteries I've forgotten to turn it off before going on a vacation and come back a week later and the truck starts right up. My A119V3 was on for 2-3 months 24/7 before I remembered to turn it off and it's still going strong. I really only turn it off when I'm home (and remember) so on road trips it remains on. I ran an older A119 off of a battery bank a few years ago in a rental. I think I got 15-20 hours on that power bank. I think it was a 15k or 20k bank, maybe 25k, not really sure which of my power banks I was using back then on it.
