And stop asking what I need that storage for. It was a very sad day when my boat capsized with all of my 4K BluRay movies and Linux distro aboard. Total loss... I need a hug.
The 14's from goharddrive have NOT had the SMART data reset so you actually know the number of hours of use and whether or not there are any SMART errors. When the SMART data has been reset like most of these from ServerPartDeals, you really know nothing about the drive. Fortunately, both places allow returns and I suspect there is no real difference between one vendor and the other.
edit, the WD are out of stock at goharddrive, Toshiba still available.

The 14's from goharddrive have NOT had the SMART data reset so you actually know the number of hours of use and whether or not there are any SMART errors. When the SMART data has been reset like most of these from ServerPartDeals, you really know nothing about the drive. Fortunately, both places allow returns and I suspect there is no real difference between one vendor and the other.

I previously bought 14TB Hc530's from serverpartsdeals. Also no errors. Also super fast service.
Recommend both companies.
once i get the drive, if the scan finds blocks/etc errors, i RMA the item and in return gets another refurbished drive.
if i don't scan the drive, and a year from now, the drive fails and i do a warranty replacement, i get another refurbished drive.
so what's the point of scanning the drive initially?
i can understand for a new drive, the RMA would/should be another new drive.

If it's good and fails a year from now, you've got a year use out of it. If it's bad to start with, it's probably driving you mad(drive dropping from array or transfer stuck)

If it's good and fails a year from now, you've got a year use out of it. If it's bad to start with, it's probably driving you mad(drive dropping from array or transfer stuck)
