I signed up for this offer earlier in the year and to be honest, I haven't used it much. From hotels I've looked at the discounts they offer are generally not much better than booking direct or through my credit card's OTA.

We did recently find a slightly better price (maybe $10-20 cheaper) at a hotel through TA+ and decided to give it a shot. Went through the entire checkout process and got an error screen after submitting. Never got a confirmation email or anything, but they ended up charging my credit card despite not even securing the reservation. I opened a case with their support team as they also have no record of my order and told me to go through my CC company to dispute the charge.

In short, my experience with TA+ has been negative. It's unclear how the benefits work and which hotels are discounted. You get what you pay for.

Amazing, a free promo period that DOESN'T automatically set up auto renewal. I've booked my vacation for next month already, but this will be nice for the 10% experiences discount. Thanks!

They have some hotel discounts. Typically I would say that is BS, but I recently did book an Embassy suites for $160 that was $230 everywhere else. So I would say it is at least worth checking out for free.

I have been able to save quite a bit of money by using Trip Advisor plus, but the deals seem to be hit and miss. When I was looking for hotels near the Seattle airport I saved quite a bit of money there, but when trying to book near Orlando's airport, not so much. For where I travel, it seems to be well worth it.

Couldn't get this to work last week, but today it worked flawlessly on Target's website.

Wouldn't hurt to use a burner credit card for this signup in case something gets screwed up and you get auto-renewed a year from signup.

Same here. I think that's just to validate that the card can be charged. We'll see if they take the $1 back off. In my case I used a Privacy.com card with a $1 limit.

But I've been using Orbitz, Priceline , Booking.com and Hotel.com

I finished a three-week trip and Priceline was cheaper than Trip Advisor every time, including all the hotels with special Trip Advisor member discounts.

I've had a TA+ account for 3 years now. It was expiring in 3 weeks, so I used this free year promo. I had to create a new TA+ account under another email to do this. Unfortunately, I could not add a year to my existing membership.

Is TA+ always the lowest price? No. But that's true for any site. Personally, we travel to Cancun/Riviera Maya twice yearly. In the past 3 years I've booked using a TA+rate four times.
