From my understanding, If a panel gets hit with shade, it will affect the entire "string".
I think this is one of the factors to consider when determining your layout (and how you configure your setup regarding serial/parallel panel groups).

So I guess same for a panel that is damaged but putting out power. One of my 2 panels cracked and I marine shellac'd it to keep water out, but now I'm wondering if it is limiting the other panel.

You're supposed to put a backflow preventer on each panel to stop this.

I would run the higher wattage panels in a seperate series from the 100w panels, then you should be fine. If this isn't possible, you can wire the two 100w panels to 200w by running in parallel, and then you'll be limited by the 180.

In series, yes.

In parallel, no.

This might be off-topic - Does anyone know a local installer for residential solar panels in the NYC area?

I'm able to source the panels/inverter but having a hard time finding an installer who can obtain permits and properly install them.

I just bought an eco flow River 2. Will this panel be "plug and play" with it? Do I need anything else? Thanks guys. I am technology challenged

You will need a cable with mc4 to xt60 connectors to plug it into your River2. I'd recommend at least a 10' cable.

Given your location and the complexity of finding reputable companies I'd suggest that you visit all the dealer websites that you can find and see if they have certified installers listed for your location.
Maybe go to a Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware, etc and see if they contract with solar installers.
I would also hold off getting the panels until you discuss this with the installer because they like their own stuff, lol. (warranties and such too)

Thanks for the info, Already checked with HD and Lowes - unfortunately, they are using these 3rd party companies that provide end-to-end solutions (4x markup).
