It's a 100ah battery, if you don't care about the heating function many are available on Amazon for below 300

Anybody have a any thoughts on using lifepo4 batteries for a trolling motor? How about a boats main battery? They should never see freezing temps, hopefully.

A lot of people use it to power trolling motors. It's a pretty popular solution. Just remember, you can't charge LFP below freezing.

I think they should be good besides the cost and good quality charger capable of charging this type maybe. They're much lighter than leaded, should last for longer since can be depleted to almost 100% vs around 60 and there are other few benefits.
Most negative would be getting stolen, boat over turning and this thing drowning, withstanding high moisture or "brains" failing prematurely. The ones that weren't FePO based would explode or catch on fire when getting in contact with water but that supposedly was fixed by changing the chemistry to FePO.

I recently bought 4 of the following for my Ryobi riding lawnmower.

It is $266 (Close to price as a premium AGM batteries) but it LifePO4. It also does not have cold temp charging cut out.

I'm assuming the heating function is really only useful if you plan on using your solar charging system in winter like conditions? ie. A cabin, or an adventure vehicle that you might take to the snow...

I'm assuming there are much better options for use as home battery backup? I have priced 4 x 48v 100ah LiFePO4 at about $6,400 total. It would take 16 of these to equal the same voltage and capacity which would put me over $7000.

Wouldn't a whole house generator be better?

Oh yeah, you don't want anything 12v when working with that large of a battery bank. 24v min but I think 48v really should be the go too. Batteries will be more $, physical size will likely be more, so many more connections, and the giant conductors required for the current you get from running low voltage.

I used marine deep cycle batteries from Costco for trolling motors. In my view, All it matters is AH. 50 AH is quite sufficient for one motor based boat if it is used in small lake. Not for oceans or lakes like Michigan. Tides are too much.
