This was my primary car camping tent last season (12 trips) and I have to disagree and say it is surprisingly well-made.

I got this the last time it was on Slickdeals for $79. It's an absolute steal at that price:

Likes:

Dark Rest actually works, not a gimmick. Nice if you want to sleep in past sunrise.
Very easy to put up and take down as 1 person.
2 people + 3 dogs + two 17gal HDX totes for gear fit comfortably.
Good storage options inside the tent for electronics/accessories.
Tall enough I can almost stand straight up in at 5'10".

Dislikes:

The tent poles that allow it to be "instant" are large diameter and do not come apart from the tent body, meaning the tent does not pack down. You will struggle to transport this tent in a sedan.
Partial rain-fly.
No vestibules.

Misc:

I bought two of the 9x12 medium duty Ozark Trail tarp one to use as a ground mat for this and it has worked well with a bit of excess that I use as a welcome mat at the front of the tent. The other is to use for cover should a heavy downpour occur and it's been fine.

I've since purchased The North Face Wawona 6 which I also got on Slickdeals when it was $230. Honestly at nearly 3x the price it's not 3x the tent of the Ozark Trail. It has a better rain fly and a large vestibule as a luxury, but it's very difficult to put up or take down alone. It's also much larger inside and I've noticed that leads to colder nights.

This is a wonderful option for car camping that covers most people's needs. If you need more than this you know who you are and aren't going to be shopping in this class of tent.

Good luck! If they have them, can you report back on the in-store price? I would much appreciate that!
Costco 6 person core lit tent, not instant $99 in store.

These are junk tents. Spent a little extra and get something well made.
There are tents for different environments.

Is this tent great for backpacking? OF COURSE NOT.
Is this tent for winter camping? OF COURSE NOT.

I bought a $40 tent including sleeping bags from Modell back in the 90s. For $40 it was the best tent ever. Except when it rained. And thus you had a tarp so you can cover the tent. Issue solved.

What tent would you get a this price range?

Got this for a festival last year where I knew I would be going to bed late and wanting to nap during the day. Worked great. Ended up taking it car camping for a few days as well. Easy to put up and can fit a queen size air mattress. I was really surprised with the quality. It is not going to be the same quality as Big Agnes, Marmot, North Face etc but definitely along the lines of Coleman type brands. Was my first Ozark Trail purchase and would definitely purchase again. I wouldn't buy this brand for something I'm going to have to depend on in the backcountry, but that isn't what this is.

I have this and use it with my partner and 2 large dogs. Plenty of space. The dark stuff isn't just a gimmick either. With the windows shut this thing is legit dark during daylight.
Does it make it any hotter?

At some point in time the instant went for 99 but that was a while back I'll definitely bite on the instant 6 core if it gets down to 135 quick note it's just for me and my lady with a queen inflatable mattress right now we have the ozark 4 person and it barely fits 2 persons
It is $120 at costco right now https://www.costco.com/core-6-per...41698.html

I have this exact tent. It's an excellent tent. Quick setup and breakdown by 1 person. It's bit on the heavy side so it's not for backpacking. You can comfortably fit 4 people. I use it for cubscout camping.

I bought the original non-Dark Rest version of this tent 4-5 years ago and have used it a bunch of times. I thought it would be junk but it has been just fine and I intend to us it a bunch this year, too. It isn't the heaviest material on the bottom so it should definitely have a tarp or purpose-made footprint under it, but mine hasn't ripped or leaked yet, and when I camp it is regardless of weather. This will never be mistaken for a $300 tent but it's great for car camping, has nice height to it, and sets up quick and easy.

This one is a solid option. Friends and I have also had great luck with basic Coleman dome tents. You can find the 4-person versions of those for $50 or less. They're fairly light, pack up pretty small, and setup easily. My last one had survived a ton of nights by the time I gave it away to a friend. I wish everything was still available for 90's prices, but these aren't that much more now.

I also have the non dark version of this tent that I bought 5 years ago from a slick deal. We have used it about a dozen times and overall it has held up well. This last time the netting on the ceiling tore up when I was setting it up. Not exactly sure how it happened. Maybe it snagged to something. Overall I love the ease of set up and take down and will stick to the instant cabin tents. Thinking of getting the instant Core on sale at Costco to replace our Ozark.

Does anyone know what are the differences between this model (# WMT-100966D) and the other listing of seemingly a similar item (model # WMT-100968D) also on Walmart dot com?

I know nothing about Core as a brand but that their 6-person tent looks interesting. The support poles appear to be internal rather than outside, and the rainfly covers a little better than this Ozark.

I set this up a few days ago and we had about 2" of rainfall over that time. I will check in on it soon but it has definitely been tested and I will post my results here.
